Washington – White House: Oil May Leak For Months

    14

Workers walk along the beach as they clean up oil residue in Grand Isle, La., Sunday, May 30, 2010. With BP declaring failure in its latest attempt to plug the uncontrolled gusher feeding the worst oil spill in U.S. history, the company is turning to yet another mix of risky undersea robot maneuvers and longshot odds to keep crude from flowing into the Gulf. Six weeks after the catastrophe began, oil giant BP PLC is still casting about for at least a temporary fix to the spewing well underneath the Gulf of Mexico that's fouling beaches, wildlife and marshland. A relief well that's currently being drilled, which is supposed to be a better long-term solution, won't be done for at least two months. That would be in the middle of the Atlantic hurricane season, which begins Tuesday. (AP Photo/Jae C. Hong)Washington – White House energy czar Carol Browner says oil might keep leaking into the Gulf of Mexico for months until relief wells are completed.

Browner tells NBC’s “Meet The Press” that the administration is “prepared for the worst.” That’s a scenario none of the measures under way will work, and oil leaks until relief wells are finished in August.

She says the government has ordered BP to drill two relief wells in case the first well doesn’t work.

Well, Palin and the Republicans kept screaming “drill baby drill”. Thats exactly what we did and now we are paying the price. While we can debate how quickly the government should have taken control AFTER the well blowout, its totally clear that this fisaco is the result of some combination of negligence and malfeasance by BP and its contractors.

imagine the bush white house making such a statement after katrina.
whole buch of photo-ops of men in white and taking sample after sample, while at same time don’t allow to do the real thing, all in name of “saving the enviroment”.

There was airplane crash where 370 people were killed. Therefore we should stop flying planes. You find the black box and the problem and you rectify. You find the problem with the oil gusher and you rectify for next time.

Clearly the mixture for the top-kill didn’t work. I would suggest using four-day old
chulent and kishke – it will clog anything!
