Washington – Report: Obama Provided Israel With Historic Guarantees

    26

MIDEAST ISRAEL PALESTINIANSWashington – Israeli State officials are trying to send calming messages following the US’s endorsement of a nuclear-free Middle East resolution advanced by the NPT conference, which named Israel as a country whose facilities must be placed under inspection. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet US President Barack Obama in the White House later this week amid recent tensions.

“Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has received unequivocal guarantees from Obama for the State of Israel’s preservation of strategic and deterring abilities,” a senior State official said. “These assurances include a significant upgrade in the history of US-Israel relations in the line of strategic understandings.”

The source noted that the US had effectively promised Israel that no decision made by the NPT conference would harm Israel’s vital interests.

The 189 member nations of the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty on Friday adopted a detailed plan of small steps down a long road toward nuclear disarmament, which includes naming Israel as a state whose nuclear facilities must be placed under inspection.

The 28-page Final Declaration was approved by consensus on the last day of the month-long conference, convened every five years to review and advance the objectives of the 40-year-old NPT.

State officials also mentioned that Netanyahu has spent the last couple of months making sure that the NPT resolution won’t have a practical effect on Israel’s security.

“This activity included contacts between the prime minister and the US president, intense daily contacts between the Prime Minister’s Office and the White House and professional contacts between the Israeli lower strategic ranks and their American counterparts,” the State official said.

He also added that as part of these efforts Netanyahu had decided as early as April to not attend the NPT conference in Washington and that Defense Minister Ehud Barak discussed the matter with Obama in the White House shortly thereafter.

so if Im reading this correctly, the US lied and endorsed a UN report that clearly identifies Israel as a country that must be inspected for its nuclear arsenal.
I am not sure why your headline is so misleading when the facts are blatant. Obama lied and reneged on his promise.

“unequivocal guarantee” from Obama. Why didn’t Obama just not endorse the NPT then he wouldn’t need to give this unequivocal guarantee. If I recall correctly there was a very strong understanding of U.S. and Israel relationship that was in place when Obama came into office which he just simply made believe did not exist. This unequivocal guarantee is worth next to nothing and can be undone at the drop of a hat. Baruch Hashem we have many real unequivocal guarantees from all the neviim.

They learned from their mistakes. Lower the rhetoric. They give us assurance. But in the same sentence they support the NPT.

“Unequivocal” has lost much of its meaning over the last few days. Israel is not long for this world, unfortunately because Hashem wants it that way.

Obama has taken chutzpah to new heights. Can you believe that he will endorse such a document that fails to spell out Iran, the greatest nuclear threat of this century? It is not the degree of supervision, or the rest of the verbiage. Iran is a country that has two middle names – hostility and terror. And there is no reference to Iran! Obama – your actions all say one message loud and clear. Your hatred for Israel and its safety is beyond extreme. The only country that can be expected to resist a first strike in nuclear war is Israel, even more trustworthy than United States. You have more nerve than I thought. I wish you and your ilk the wrath of Hashem. It’s going to happen sooner than you think. All other signs of ikvasa d’meshicha are being revealed. Stop lying about being Israel’s friend.

Until Obama came to power, Israel never once admitted to having nuclear capability. It was assumed that there was a facility in Dimona, but no Israeli politician ever admitted to it. Remember Mr. Vannunu who went to jail for attempting to disclose some type of nuclear operation. The pressure is on Bibi to make concession after concession, but he must withstand it. Obama and his Jewish lieutenants are masters of deceit. We must continue to hold their feet to the fire.

I don’t think commenters understand what is going on here.

Iran is an existential danger to Israel and to five million Jews. President Obama is trying to get Iran to submit its nuclear program to inspections. That is a good thing. But it is very easy for Iran to argue that it should not have to do that because Israel does not submit to inspections!

Israel should join the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty as an admitted nuclear power. It should also join NATO; that way an attack on it will result in 28 other countries, three of which have nuclear weapons, instantly being at war with Israel’s enemy. That would be the end of any serious threat to Israel. Essentially, Israel would have the same status as the UK or France. That would not be bad!

huh?israel never signed while iran did,so of course israel doesn’t submit to inspections!Besides you are ignoring the main point of obama supporting a resoulition which only singles out israel! And israel can not just enter nato.
