According to an e-mail circulated among the couple’s friends and obtained by The Associated Press on Tuesday, the Gores said it was “a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we have made together following a process of long and careful consideration.”
Gore spokeswoman Kalee Kreider confirmed the statement came from the Gores, but declined to comment further.
Al Gore lost the 2000 presidential election to Republican George W. Bush. He has since campaigned worldwide to draw attention to climate change, which in 2007 led to a Nobel Peace Prize and an Oscar for the documentary “An Inconvenient Truth.”
Tipper Gore is known for her advocacy on mental health issues.
Blame it on global warming or maybe she refused to believe he created the Internet
global warming???
Maybe she wants the AC off & he says it’s getting too hot out there.
That’s some real Global Warming for you!
I guess global ‘warming’ didn’t affect their marriage and now they are coldly going their own separate ways…
Wow it took her 40 years to realize what a wacko she was married to
Tipper complained that he spent more time hugging trees than her!
all gore is the dullest politician ever…he probably bored her to death cant blame her
more like Global freezing
Regardless of how one feels about Mr. Gore’s politics or his position on global warming, I do not think the breakup of his marriage is the subject for jokes or frivolity.
The Wolf
An inconvenient truth.
The reason that Al Gore lost Florida (and the 2000 Presidential election), is because of the ridiculous raid which Janet Reno authorized at the home which Elian Gonzales (6 year old Cuban refugee) was staying at. As a result of that horrible raid, the Cuban-American community voted for Bush over Gore; their vote, essentially decided the 2000 election. In retrospect, the raid was ill planned, ill timed, and used an excess of manpower. The photo of Elian screaming, while rifle toting federal agents were in his home, was not too cool an event for the Democrats.
All these stupid postings by stupid yidden on a sad day in the lives of one of the greatest visionaries and political leaders in American history. He is a great friend of EY and is responsible for many of the most important changes that have been made in our environmental laws and those of EY.
I am happy for Tipper.
Now that Fortune Magazine says that Al Gore has over $1 billion due to his “Green” projects, that means a cool $500 million for her. Not bad for getting divorced
“Sorry Tipper…it’s either me or the SUV…”
Just wondering when they divvey up their assets who gets the internet

wow! how many of us have been married for 40 years?
Al Gore was always a friend to Israel and lest you all forget even chose an observant Jew as his running mate. Most likely he lost the Southern states because he had a Jew on his ticket!
if you had hundreds of millions wouldn’t you get divorced. admit it.
Stop making fun of Al Gore. Vice-President Gore may frequent the wonderful Orthodox Shul, Sherith Israel in Nashville.
The breakup of any home is a tragedy especially after 40 years. I just lost my cheyshik to get married after 40 years single. I guess I am not looking forward to losing much. But the Mizbeyach will not cry at this divorce or my staying single!
WOW! You guys have amazing senses of humor…still l will always have a good feeling in my heart for Al Gore–for putting an orthodox jew on his ticket…
