Manhattan, NY – The New York Synagogue has signed a contract to buy a Midtown building belonging to the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society, Rabbi Marc Schneier of the New York Synagogue said. The synagogue, which has been renting space in the six-story building at 122 East 58th Street since 2003, will pay $24 million and plans to spend $11 million on renovations, he said.

The synagogue, which is affiliated with the Hampton Synagogue, plans to expand from off-season services to year-round services, the rabbi said.
