Patricia Hubyk, 56, of Robert Treat Drive in Orange, was arrested on third-degree larceny charge based on a complaint filed by the Jewish Community Center on Amity Road.
Hubyk is accused of stealing $4,839 from the center while working as an accounting assistant there. Over a four-month period, Hubyk skimmed donations and membership fees that she was supposed to deposit in the bank, police said. The center filed the complaint alleging the missing funds shortly after Hubyk left the job.

After obtaining an arrest warrant for Hubyk, police had difficulty locating her. But investigators recently discovered that Hubyk was living under an assumed name in an Orange apartment. When officers arrived, Hubyk knew why they were there, police said. “She told us her real name and said she knew what it was all about,” said Woodbridge police Sgt. Frank Cappiello.
