    Jerusalem, Israel – Three Jerusalem Arabs are under arrest for allegedly setting fire to a city synagogue.

    The three, whose ages ranged from 15-20 and were all residents of the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Issawiya, are suspected of hurling flammable material at the ‘Sha’are Rachamim VeSemcha’ synagogue in the northern Jerusalem neighborhood of French Hill, as well as setting fire to three private vehicles in the area.
    The synagogue, which is located on the periphery of the neighborhood, was badly damaged during thenighttime attack.

    The three suspects remand in custody by a Jerusalem court.
    The suspected arsonists told police interrogators that they carried out the attacks for “nationalistic” reasons, police said.
