65 year old Steven Mayer was last seen on October 4 at his home in Great Neck.

Mayer was on his way to his job as a metals trader in Huntington when he disappeared. His family says he useed anti-seizure medication but had no history of mental illness and has never gone missing before.

Mayer spoke to someone from his job at 11:30 a.m. on the day he disappeared. His family says he also called his deceased parents number from his cell phone several times that day.

Mayer’s disappearance sparked a massive search by thousands of volunteers from many Jewish organizations.

Mayer’s body was located in a heavily wooded area in Riverhead, NY. The funeral will be held Monday October 18th at 11:30am at Sinai Chapels in Queens.

These people in the parking lot are co-ordinators, which is necessary in such a situation. I don’t think they were sitting around twittling their thumbs.

#16 – ELECTION2010: I really hope you never go missing….These dedicated, devoted and holy people gave up their personal lives and were up for countless DAYS!! coordinating a search almost as intense as the Suri Feldman search. Were YOU there? Did YOU do anything? Shame on YOU!!!! for even considering criticism

Fine everyone wants their kavod. From reading these blogs one might get the impression that people volunteer for their egos. If so, that’s the wrong reason. There is a dead man here. What were the circumstances, there are no details in the story.
