Attorney Ira Sorkin says Madoff has decided not to attend the funeral for Mark Madoff out of consideration for his daughter-in-law’s and grandchildren’s privacy.
The lawyer said Monday the 72-year-old Madoff will conduct a private service at the North Carolina prison where he’s serving a 150-year term.
Mark Madoff hanged himself on Saturday in his New York City apartment. The 46-year-old older son of Madoff killed himself two years after his father was arrested for cheating thousands of investors of billions of dollars in a Ponzi scheme.

I’m not arguing that they should let him out for the funeral – jail is jail – but where is the liberal outrage for compassion?
Bernie would not even want to attend his son’s funereal, he can’t face his wife, his family and friends, if he where out of prison he would also commit suicide, that’s why its a waste of taxpayer money to keep him in prison, let them release him we will perish very soon, he has no money, no family, no friends.

Bring his son’s Oron to the prison to let him say kaddish and have the inmates be menachem ovel him and even sit shiva at least for a day.
What we should be asking is how is it his ganaveh on such a monumental scale gets only 150 years and a rubashkin who stole from noone gets 27 years, one sixth of Madoffs term who stole Billions.
All people are holy & created in the image of G-d that includes Bernie Madoff & his entire family. We all have yetzer harah and Madoff made a mistake and hes paying for it by spending the rest of his life in prison, so its enough of the Bernie bashing. Many of Madoff clients had millions of dollars yet they werent happy with what they had & they needed to make an extra 10% on the millions that they already had. No one can produce a 10% gain on ones investment its impossible. This is a very sad story & the entire family is ruined and broken. It says that when you see someone else shortcoming its really a reflection of our own shortcoming. Apparently all of us have a strong yetzer for money and greed and we need to daven and work harder to improve out own middos and stop focusing on others mistakes and shortcomings.
If Bernie Madoff has any humanity in him, he is now paying a heavier price than jail for his crimes.
According to the NY Post The body is still unclaimed and its at A funeral director at the Andrett Funeral Home-Gramercy Park Memorial Chapel who took the body today from the Medical Examiner’s Office & the body is gonna be cremated. There is a mitzva of Kevuras Yisroel some one should contact Hamisaskim and the funeral parlor and see if there could be away to make a kevuras Yiroel with a tahara, minyan, hesped and kadish and prevent the body from being cremated which is A’sur according to the Torah.
