Brooklyn, NY – Our Place: Exposure On VIN News Has Kept Us Afloat

Brooklyn, NY – Our Place, the Brooklyn facility offering food, recreation, counseling and more to troubled teens is struggling to stay afloat three weeks after it was almost forced to close its doors after drastic budget cuts eliminated the grants which sustained the much needed.

“We are not out of the woods yet,” said Our Place staffer Joe Yurowitz in an exclusive interview with VIN News. “I can tell you that tonight we are going to be open. We are taking it day by day. People are coming forward, showing their support and if they continue to do so we will be able to pull through and stay open.”

Yurowitz credits Vos Iz Neias for running articles to raise public awareness for the institution, even going so far as to suggest that by keeping Our Place in the news, VIN News shares the credit for literally saving the lives of troubled teens.

“It is unquestionable that the fact that Vos Iz Neias kept Our Place front and center gave us tremendous exposure. Not only did being featured on VIN News bring in a significant amount of donations, but it has also resulted in increased coverage from numerous media outlets. Our Place cannot be allowed to close down. In just the past week or two we have dealt with situations of such significance that had we not been around, the results would have been disastrous. If Vos Iz Neias didn’t play the role that it plays, we would never be able to do what we do.”

A recent raffle campaign allowed Our Place to raise some of the much needed funds that are necessary to keep it afloat, but without continued community support, Our Place will once again be facing closure. to donate click here

Once again, V.I.N. is in the forefront of community reporting, and activism. We desperately need places like Our Place for our troubled teens. Without such supports, these teens are condemned to the streets, an existence which for some will end in death. (Read TIMES SQUARE RABBI by Rabbi Yehudah Fine if you don’t believe me.)

In addition, V.I.N. has fearlessly brought news about the abuse of our children to our attention, news which has been quashed by other media sources. Our community members need to know what has gone on and is going on in our community, to better protect our precious children.

G-d Bless you and thank you VIN. May you both be around for a very long time.

Yosher Koach, VIN and helping keep this great, important organization afloat! By the way, another great thing that will be happening because of VIN – someone will be donating a kidney because of an article that was on VIN! She finnished her medical tests. I think the person donating a kidney is a mother of 5. She is from the UK, will be donating a kidney in Israel to a 10 year old girl.

And the freaking idiot ‘askanim’ want to ban VIN! instead of wasting time on such stupidities, use your time to help out teens at risk like VIN is doing…
