New York – NY Assemblyman Calls On New York Congressional Delegation To Strip NPR Of Federal Funding

    9

New York – Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) is calling on the New York Congressional delegation to strip National Public Radio (NPR) of its annual allocation of $90 million in federal funding in light of a recent video featuring outgoing NPR Foundation and Senior Vice President of Development Ron Schiller agreeing with undercover journalists posing as members of a Muslim Brotherhood front group who remark that the Jews control the media. After several minutes of the journalists’ phony diatribe against Israel and Jews, Schiller finally responds that he doesn’t find Jewish control of the media to be an issue at NPR per se, but “it’s in there in those who own newspapers obviously, but no one owns NPR.”

“It is no secret that NPR has a long history of anti-Israel bias in their reporting, or that their journalistic standards are far from fair and balanced,” Hikind wrote in a letter to New York’s Representatives. “This is just the latest of a string of incidents involving NPR’s one-sidedness.”
In the video, Mr. Schiller also decries the $90 million in federal funding NPR receives each year, alleging that, “Particularly Republicans play off of the belief among the general population that most of our funding comes from the government. . . .well, frankly, it is very clear that we would be better off in the long run without federal funding.”

Hikind’s letter continues, “Because of the totality of Mr. Schiller’s egregious remarks, NPR should immediately be stripped of this $90 million annual allocation. The funding should be re-directed to other organizations which do not espouse and perpetuate negative stereotypes. This will send a very clear message to Mr. Schiller and those like him that prejudice and intolerance will not be tolerated or rewarded by the United States government.”

I don’t think that they should lose funding because that fool says Jews control the media, but I do think that they should lose funding because that fool say on tape that NPR would be better off if they did not receive gov’t money.

Several months ago, Bill O’Reilly stated that NPR should lose federal funding, after the way it fired Juan Williams.

Whats with Dov?? This guy no longer works for NPR…His stupid comments were not endorsed by NPR or its Board of Directors. If someone on Hikind’s staff makes a stupid comment, should Hikind be sued or forced to resign?

Ok #1 ! Have you been listening to NPR lately? I gather not. The hate against anything moral in favor of anything liberal unabashed has got to stop. The total unequivocal constant support for the poor suffering Palestinians and displaced Arabs is sickening. If you understand that your tax dollars support the filth spewed on this station you would be outraged. This is an old rotting story that needs to come to an end.
