The Fire Department of New York says its truck was headed to a car fire when it got into an accident on Staten Island with the van.

At least seven people from the van were taken to a hospital, including one critical and one serious injury. The victim who died was in the van and has not been identified.

    Six firefighters suffered minor injuries.

Police say the fire engine, from Ladder 81, had its siren on. It hit the van’s rear driver-side door as the van made a left turn.

Fire trucks think they own the road, just because they have such big vehicles!!

Why would anyone in his right mind criticize the NYPD when a tragedy like this happened.? I have seen many Hatzoloh and Shomrim members involved in motor vechile accidents…When any first responder may it be volunteers or paid , they are always in danger from the second they respond to a emergency call. There are reasons they are equipped with lights and sirens to make sure the public is aware they are in middle of a emergency…Those responders life is in jeporady while answering our calls , so it would just be correct not to criticize any EMT,police officer,or Fireman without knowing the facts. And even the facts are that they made a error this is handled by their supervisors and the authorities who oversee them, not for us to bash them…
