Kruger is expected to appear in Manhattan federal court along with Boyland and at least one other suspect, said sources speaking on condition of anonymity. The sources would not detail the exact corruption counts. One source confirmed a third man expected to be charged is an influential lobbyist, Richard Lipsky.
Spokesmen for the Manhattan U.S. attorney and the FBI declined comment. Kruger’s lawyer Ben Brafman also declined comment. Calls and emails to Boyland’s offices and a home listing were not returned. Gerald Lefcourt, attorney for Lipsky, did not return calls for comment.
Earlier this month, a fundraiser for Kruger, who has served in the state senate since 1994, made headlines with a guilty plea in federal court in Brooklyn. But the charges expected against Kruger do not appear to be related.
