Albany, NY – New York Senate Democrats have removed Sen. Carl Kruger from his lucrative leadership post as the ranking member of the powerful Senate Finance Committee after he was charged in an influence peddling case.

Senate Democratic spokesman Austin Shafran announced the move Thursday.
The lawmaker from Brooklyn was chairman of the committee from 2008 to 2010 when Democrats controlled the Senate.
Now he faces charges in a case that prosecutors say includes bribes, money laundering and conspiracy.
All matters requiring state spending in legislation must go through the Finance Committee.
Kruger was to receive a $20,500 stipend for the post, but hasn’t gotten it yet this year.
As chairman for two years, he made $34,000 a year in stipends.
Stipends are in addition to $79,500 in base pay.
I don’t see where the NEWs/novelty is in this story. It’s not like there never was a politician (poly-ticks Latin for many bloodsuckers.) that was “peddling influence.”
And for those that are keeping score, that’s another NY Democrat that is corrupt. (Google Charlie Rangel for more info.)
Let him lose to a GOPer in a district that voted 55% for McCain, second highest in state thanks to perfect GOP gerrymander of senate districts in ’00
i wonder who the Governor will put in to replace him before a special election is held
ALL OF VITO LOPEZ FRIENDS ARE FALLING LET US GET NEW CLEAN ELECTED OFFICALS IN OFFICE THAT CARE FOR OUR CHILDREN
Which politician is “clean”? All politics is dirty!!
The Republicans will probably welcome him, just as they did with Pedro Espada.
