Netanyahu said in a statement that McCain pledged his support in a phone conversation Thursday.

Jonathan Pollard was an intelligence analyst for the U.S. Navy when arrested in Washington in 1985. He pleaded guilty to passing secrets to Israel and received a life sentence.

McCain’s voice joins those of other U.S. officials, including former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and ex-CIA Director R. James Woolsey.

Critics say Pollard has languished in jail far longer than others sentenced for lesser offenses and that he passed on secrets that were supposed to be shared with Israel anyway.

Pollard has been imprisoned for 25 years and four months. He has more than paid his debt to society, and has expressed remorse. He received a raw deal from Judge Aubrey Robinson, as well as his handlers who double crossed him. Let him be freed, so he can rejoin his wife in Eretz Yisrael. I do not, nor have I ever condoned what he did. However, enough is enough!!

This article (AP) fails to mention that a life sentence is way more severe than what others have received for similar crimes, and even worse crimes.
My question: if so many people are coming forward — big people!– why is it not yet happening?
