Jerusalem – Israeli Press Liaison Demanding Apology From CNN Over Itamar Report

    31

Rabi Yehuda Ben Ishai, father of Ruth Fogel, center, and other family members, names not given, mourn over the bodies of Ruth, her husband Udi and their three children, during their funeral in Jerusalem, Sunday, March, 13, 2011. Israel said Sunday it has approved building hundreds of settler homes after five members of the Fogel family, including three children, were knifed to death as they slept in a West Bank settlement over the weekend. (AP Photo/Sebastian Scheiner)Jerusalem – The director of Israel’s Government Press Office sent a letter to CNN’s Jerusalem Bureau Chief Sunday demanding an apology for a story on CNN’s website that put “terror attack” in quotations in the headline of its story on Friday night’s atrocity in Itamar.

Responding to the story headlined “Israeli Family of 5 Killed in ‘Terror Attack,’ Military Says,” Oren Helman wrote Kevin Flower that he was “dumbfounded and astonished” to read that the slaughter of the Fogel family is “what the Israeli army calls a ‘terrorist attack’.”

Your remarks sound as if we are talking about an IDF ‘claim’ that this was ‘a terrorist attack’ and that this is not necessarily the case,” he wrote. “If this is not a terrorist attack, then what is?”

Helman, saying that “there is a limit to the extent of objectivity regarding such a horrific deed,” wrote that an apology from CNN was in order.

CNN International, in response, said that it does not respond in public to private correspondence. The news organization did issue a statement saying, however, that it was “standard journalistic practice for news organizations to put quotation marks around remarks attributed to third parties.”

It is time to hand CNN a boycott. Never open their website. Threaten to boycott their advertisers. The anti-Israel bend of that site is legendary. Those with minds that demand moral justice should make that statement.

What do they want from them?
Be happy they didn’t say on air that they’re happy that they were murdered

I think CNN should be barred from Israel altogether – they all wear a green kafiyah that is invisible but it’s in their heart.

Well what do you want from a “news” network? Its time to revoke their press privileges.

Its not that much better now, here is a quote from CNN website:

The government approved the construction in the settlements of Gush Etzion, Maale Adumim, Ariel and Kiryat Sefer in a rare Saturday-night decision.

The development came shortly after five members of an Israeli family were killed in the West Bank, in what Israel is calling a terror attack.

They were quoting their souce and use quotation marks like any other new service routinesly does. Look at the JP and notice how they use quotation marks when citing a third party. They were not making a value judgement about whether or not the murderer was a “terrorist”.

What a bunch of baby’s what difference does it make how CNN has described the attack? We just can’t seem to stop complaining about everything, who do we thing we are?

Some “settlers” were killed, it’s not a terrorist attack (CNN’S view!) Well, I have some news for you CNN, “boruch goldstein” was also a settler, and it also wasn’t a terrorist attack!
To all “Settlers”, take out your weapons and start murdering palastinians!
Is that not what CNN is condoning! (Legitimate war: Settlers Vs. Palastinians [terrorists])
(They might not be, so anti semitic after all!)

would love to see the story in reverse, a Jewish settler killing a whole Arab family in their sleep in what Palestinian sources call a “terrorist attack”

I don’t think CNN is the only media we should be worried about

wake up world; the news media is very very bias and it sets peoples’ opinion which is why the leftist is trying to shut down fox news. soros [tzoros] is anti israel and is using his various organizations to get opinions against Israel. The anti Israel attitude is very dangerous. Hitler’s yemach shemo head of propaganda
used a book written during wilson adminstrations against the Jews and it work very well. First you dehumanize them like cnn is trying to do Israel “so call terrorist attack”. The same crooked news did not report when 200 man in egypt stood around as they raped and beat a reporter since they thought she was Jewish. Fox was the only news to report what happen. This is why I do not check cnn for anything. CNN , bbc and other if they are not fair and unbias must be told not ask to leave. Press creidential resinded

ABC news doesn’t seem to be much better on this story. They had a whole writeup about the fact that Israel approved more building, however there is no news story about the attack. They just write that the approval was a response to the attack.

Seeing as the building of settlements in occupied territories is an act of agression in contravention of the Geneva convention, the parents were in defiance of international law by bringing children to a war zone. The murders, as despicable as they were, were not, strictly speaking, terrorist acts.

    Blah blah… George Soros… blah blah… liberal media… blah blah… Fox News would have done…. blah blah….

CNN was obviously QUOTING someone as is evident in the report. When you are quoting someone’s actual words, you put them in quotes.

I realize that America’s new idiot-class really believes that the world is out to get them, Obama is a socialist Kenyan-born terrorist, Sarah Palin is a genius, CNN is part of a global communist conspiracy, and anyone who doesn’t believe every word out of Limbaugh’s mouth must be a descendant of Haman, but can’t we at least agree that proper punctuation is acceptable for a news organization????

This is just so pathetic I don’t know where to begin.

This is a TRAGEDY on every level. Innocent people slaughtered by terrorists in their own home. Why can’t the story just stand on its own. Why do the most ignorant and illiterate among us have to make a mountain out of a molehill.

You want the world to care about this tragedy? Stop making a joke out of it! If you were “offended” by CNN’s use of proper punctuation, YOU are the joke and YOU are the one the world laughs at. YOU are the one the rest of us are embarrassed by. GROW UP!
