Louis Scala is accused of being one of the leaders of a Staten Island drug trafficking ring that illegally sold nearly 43,000 oxycodone pills — worth $1 million on the street — between 2009 and 2010.
City Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan said Thursday the ice cream truck was a “primary sales point.”
Authorities say that after doling out treats to children, the 29-year-old Scala sold oxycodone to customers.
Scala was one of more than a dozen suspected members of the drug gang who were arraigned Tuesday and Wednesday.
He was released on $15,000 bail. The voice mail on his Staten Island phone was not set up to take messages Thursday.
