Classes begin tomorrow night at the same location and will be run in conjunction with Bramson ORT, providing participants with the opportunity to earn a high school equivalency diploma as they continue on to either an Associates Degree (60 credits) or a full Bachelor’s College Degree (120 credits).

The program is specifically geared to young men from the Chassidishe community, whose primary language is Yiddish and whose educational experiences up until this point did not provide them with a foundation that is solid enough to enable them to pursue meaningful jobs and/or careers.

“So many of these young men have never completed high school and the best job they can get is either driving a truck or schlepping boxes in a warehouse,” said Mrs. Freier, in an exclusive interview with VIN News. “These young men are our future and we need to give them an education, life skills and opportunities. We have arranged special tutors to work exclusively with our Yiddish speaking group in order to build up their English and math skills so that they can have the opportunity to succeed in life.”

The group will automatically earn their GED with the first 24 credits they earn in the program, which is estimated at three semesters. Aside from a full college program, Bramson ORT offers a full range of opportunities that might not be available at regular colleges including courses in renewable energy, Jr. accounting, business management, computer networking, graphic design, video game design and HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) technology, in addition to training students to become pharmaceutical technicians, administrative assistants and medical office assistants.

Financial Aid is available to those who qualify. For further information contact Ruchie Freier at [email protected]

it’s indeed a good thing to encourage chasidim to yungerleit to learn a profession and get a job but this Mrs Freier doesn’t realy know what’s going on.

“the best job they can get is either driving a truck or schlepping boxes in a warehouse”
this quote just proves her ignorance with what’s going on in the chasidishe community. let’s take a look on available jobs that don’t even require a high school diploma.
    1) Shochet
    2) Sofer
    3) Cheder Rebbe
    4) Rosh yeshiva
    5) Mohel
    6) Dian
    7) Kashrus Mashgiach

and the list goes on and on.
in addition, many chasidim own a grocery store, bakery, fish market etc. and are able to make a decent living off their jobs. many others are mortgage brokers, insurance brokers and are very successful. so what exactly does she mean when she says that the best they can do is “either driving a truck or schlepping boxes”?
does she have a clue of how much real estate is owned by chasidim, without a bachelor degree?

Mrs. Freier, it is high time someone with the power to make a difference did so. You have my everlasting gratitude for your commitment here. Education is the key to our survival. It is the key to the continuation of our yeshivos. It is the key to the continuation of our communities.

Much more needs to be done, but this is such a beautiful site to see! It gives me hope that this generation will be able to sustain itself after my generation is gone. It gives me hope that we can stop the never-ending fall into poverty that so many of our young families are crippled by.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Mrs Frier very definitely has her finger on the pulse of the community. Thes boys cannot become all the things No.1 suggests because that takes alot more learning, as in gemorro, than these boys have. These are the not so academically inclined boys, not everyone has it in them to become shochtim, who by the way are not always paid the highest of wages. These are the boys who may have messed about in cheder but now want a second chance, a cheder rebbe is thus not an option. to be a mashgiach one actually has to be very knowledgable, much more than you think. So I say Go Mrs Frier, Go!!

Wow a Rosh Yeshiva is on your very exciting list. So that means we should encourage all those without degrees to open up kollels for other non educated people. Who is supposed to pay for all of this? Why is it that from my large graduating high school class on a large yeshiva I am the only one who has doctoral degree? The yeshivas discourage higher education for no reason at all. Pathetic
