Outremont resident Pierre Lacerte has run his controversial blog for the last six years, detailing what he considers bylaw violations committed by his ultra-Orthodox Jewish neighbours.
Michael Rosenberg – an influential businessman in the Outremont Hasidic community – sought a restraining order against Lacerte, claiming he is harasssing Rosenberg and his family.
Lacerte’s blog includes dozens of photos taken around an unmarked Hutchison Street synagogue founded by Rosenberg’s family.
Rosenberg and his son feature prominently in many of the blog photos.
Lacerte has long contended the synagogue – which is housed in an apartment building – violates municipal rules and is the cause of parking problems.

Quebec judge Manon Ouimet turned down Rosenberg’s request.
In her ruling, issued Monday, she said while Lacerte is “excessive, meticulous, passionate and difficult,” there is no evidence “he’s a violent person.”
Rosenberg maintains a restraining order is required to ensure his family’s safety in the neighbourhood.
Lacerte already faces a $375,000 defamation lawsuit filed by Rosenberg
Mechi Rosenberg! Don’t despair! Keep it up! Sue Celine Forget and her anti-semitic bylaws. Let them spend money, you have b”h enough, you might win sometime
Why do they violate municipal laws and give this creep amunition for his rants
Montreal is filled with Anti Semitism: French Canadians, Muslims, etc
But I still love the city- Go Habs Go!
HORRIBLE city. They all deny knowing english instead they insist on speaking a language that could only be learned by talking with a cut lemon in your mouth!
How are his pictures any different than webcams? There is no indication he does anything other than photograph people who are out in public. Hopefully Rosenberg has a deep pocket because Canada is a “loser pays” jurisdiction. Every time he loses an action against the photographer, he has to reimburse him his legal expenses.
I live in Montreal, not far from that location, and from a gentile point of view, the Synagogue is in violation of the law. The non-Jewish neighbours want the street back to what it was before the apartment was converted to a shul.
There are plenty of storefronts for rent that could take the place of that location. All within an ereve, and in walking distance.

If that is the case, and it is not build with city permits, then it is in violation of halacha also.
