At the center of it all was a federal informant who was, himself, a product of yeshiva and the son of a prominent New Jersey rabbi. Now the whole sordid tale – how it happened, what went on behind closed doors, why the FBI zeroed in on these men — is detailed and dissected for the first time in a new book by the two reporters who know the case of Solomon Dwek better than anyone.

While I’m not a big fan of Dwek, it was a big chilul hashem to see all these rabbonim and askanim dragged off to jail for a whole variety of crimes including bribery, tax evasion etc. It was even worse to see all those who came to their defense claiming that they were “entrapped” or tricked into committing the crimes by Dwek. Clearly he facilitated the sting, but their arguments as to why they committed these crimes (e.g. to raise money for tzadakah) only made the situation worse.
The authors of this book should be ashamed of themselves. this will bring more hate towards Orthodox Jews.. we know what happened, we don’t need to publicize it more.

To me it sounded like the author was fired from SYRIAN JEW AND THIS IS HIS VENGENCE.. Then he brought in a case 20 years ago ‘CRAZY EDDIE STORES’.
i LISTENED for the last 5 minutes where he mde it sound like all 50,000 syrian JEWS in brooklyn and jersey were master criminals.
He failed to mention JEWISH INSTITUTIONS world wide supported whether sephardic or ASHKANAZ. He failed to mention the hundreds of rabbis teaching and developing and guiding who were schooled in places like Lakewood,Baltimore Israel.Does this mean that the Rabbis of the rabbis are also criminals. He failed to mention the many many rabbis from the ashkanaz communties coming to MY community for political and mostly financial support. He failed to mention MY COMMUNITIES ADHERENCE TO THE TORAH UNALTERED UN EDITTED NOT EVEN A LETTER ALTERED IN ANY FASHION. HE FAILED TO MENTION THAT syrian jews use an uninterrupted siddur HUNDREDS IF NOT A THOUSAND years old.
He failed to mention the great scholors that came from the syrian and middle east world.

The word shamefull is an under statement what the drek (dwek) did to our community will never be forgiven from Hashem. He took down so many heartbroken family’s emotionally and physically. Yesh din Va’yesh deyn.
