Jerusalem – Asrah Kadisha To Bury Remains Uncovered Near Jaffa’s Andromeda Hill

    12

Jerusalem – Members of Atra Kadisha, an ultra-Orthodox organization that fought against the removal of graves found near Andromeda Hill in Jaffa, will hold a funeral for the bones uncovered there, claiming that they belong to 150 Jews.

Members of the organization insist that the remains belong to Jews because they were buried in accordance with Jewish tradition – on their backs, and with their heads facing the direction of Jerusalem. The Israel Antiquities Authority, however, asserted that the bones belong to pagan worshipers and their pigs.

The IAA has forensic anthropologists who are perfectly capable of identifying human and animal remains. In fact their entire scientific careers are dedicated to this. Denying or validating the Torah is not part of their agenda. They just want to study and identify artifacts. If they say they have discovered pig bones, why would they just make that up?

Reb Nissim Karelitz and his beis din came out with a ruling that the graves found in Yafo is not from humans but from animals, contrary to Asra Kadisha’s beleif

These clowns from Atra Kadisha only make bigger fools out of themselves by ignoring the scientific, anthropological and forensic expertise of the IAA regarding these bones. The fact that some of these experts are not shomer shabbos is totally irrelevant to their knowledge of the issues and ability to objectively distinguish the identity of the bones. By giving kavod to “pig bones” and burying them in a yiddeshe cemetary, they are committing the bigger chilul hashem.

    1. No Beis Din, not even the Sanhedrion HaGodol bemos haMoshiach, can rule against facts on the ground, I.E. that, say, granit is coal.
    2. The psul of mechalelei shabbos, like the other pesulei eidus in sha’as is not a psul haguf. It is simply a chazaka. If a reason exists that they can be relied on, such as recognized expertise, their eidus can be accepted.
