Jerusalem – The Israeli government is demanding that Facebook remove a page calling on Palestinians to take up arms against Israel.

The page, entitled “Third Palestinian Intifada,” has more than 340,000 fans.
In a letter to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Israeli Cabinet Minister Yuli Edelstein says the page includes calls to kill Jews and of “liberating” Jerusalem through violence.
The page features a fist in the colors of the Palestinian flag. It calls on Palestinians to take to the streets after Friday prayers on May 15 and begin an uprising. “Judgment Day will be brought upon us only once the Muslims have killed all of the Jews,” it reads.
Edelstein says the page incites to violence and violates Facebook content regulations.
Facebook had no immediate response to an AP request for comment.
So Zuckerberg is smart but has no common sense. And clearly influenced by those around him who possibly have hidden their agendas well. Instead of listening to his conscience, instead of distinguishing between democratic uprisings and incitement to wage war, he panders to the rabble. Maybe the movie had it right. I left the film wanting to give him the benefit of the doubt, but maybe he’s just a nerdy fool, like the ex-girlfriend said.
Zuckerberg was raised Jewish and had a bar mitzvah, but now considers himself an atheist, according to a newspaper article from 2010.
IT’s mad that Facebook even let’s such a thing on its social network.
Its a social network not a online teroor camp!
Zuckerberg has no control over the content that users posts. This is like demanding that Allan Mullaley personally should fix your SUV.
The name of the film is “The Social Network.” Zuckerberg is portrayed as computer-brilliant yet socially inept. If he’s trying to correct his very unfavorable image in the film and impress us as someone who can do the sensible thing and make clear distinctions between right and wrong, he should act in a timely manner. I would SOOO respect him as a chacham if he would get off his high horse and take decisive action. By the way, #4 , it’s Zuckerberg’s responsibility – his absolute DUTY – to correct/delete a hateful message that encourages and promotes violence. “With great power comes great responsibility.” From Spiderman’s mouth to Zuckerberg’s ears.
It’s unreal. For shame! Anyone with a conscience and a Facebook account should promptly cancel it in protest. The disappearance of hundreds of accounts will speak louder than any useless grumbling on blogs.
the problem after allowing people on Facebook that created the movements that lead to the overthrow of some Mideastern leaders , I think it would be very hard for Facebook to remove this Facebook page
I think the most effective response might be as #9 said, as well as for advertisers to refrain from purchasing ads on their site.
You can try to get facebook to remove it by : going to facebook.com/Palestinian.Intifada and then go to the bottom left of screen, you can select ‘report page’ and then select ‘contains hate speech’ then select ‘targets a race’.
Can’t hurt to try.
Every Jew should end their facebook account today, until Zuk removes the page.
#14 , he is worth $50 billion or whatever, do you think he cares if he has 600 million people on facebook or or 601 million?
Let us invert the current situation for a moment.
What would be **your** reaction if someone tried to suppress http://www.vinnews.com merely for being a Jewish website, and sometimes expressing opinions that are anti-Arab?
Let me say here and now that I do not agree with facebook.com/Palestinian.Intifada one iota, but – nasty and unpleasant as we may find it – it does have protection under the principle of freedom of expression, just as VIN and other, similar, websites.
