New York, NY – Riverdale must have been too boring a name for Bronx condo sellers, who are billing their location as NoMa — apparently as in North of Manhattan.

The Solaria Riverdale project — with one- to five-bedroom units advertised for about $900,000 to $2 million — is prominently using its self-invented “NoMa” title in Web advertising.
The project does disclose that its sale center is at 640 W. 237th St. — in Riverdale.
Isn’t the Solaria the condo project which ran out of $$$ and auctioned off the remaining units? Before they change the name of the borough, why don’t they try changing the name of the project…
If anyone hasn’t been to Riverdale and has no idea what it is, they automatically associate it with the rest of the Bronx. Who wants that?
NoMa sounds pretty awful to me
Given it’s vast size, few concepts in the world depress me as does the Bronx. And it used to be breathtaking.
i once sent an envelope to my client who’s a riverdale resident and addressed it to Bronx, NY. You can’t imagine how insulted she was.
The same is true in brooklyn where many landlords having properties in Bushwick and Bed Stuy maket their apartments as “East Williamsburg”
As a recent resident of Riverdale, it’s a frighteningly hideous carbuncle of a building. I am sure they are trying everything under the sun to move the poorly constructed units.
I know some people try to call it south westchester
I lived in Riverdale over 20 years ago & folks were insulted if you dared imply that they were part of the Bronx. I didn’t fit in too well – I insisted on telling people my mailing address was “Bronx NY”. Fortunately, my sojourn there was brief.
NoMa sounds like NoMansLand for short.
I live in Riverdale and I’m not insulted to be a part of the Bronx. The problem for the Solaria developers is that they were asking more for a 1 br. Apt. Than we paid for a 4 br single family house a few blocks away!
Some very special people, like my mother (-: was born in the Bronx. No shame.
There is also another Jewish section in the Bronx still- Pelham Parkway section.
