The Wall Street Journal reports that 49-year-old Yuri Milner, an investor in Facebook, Groupon and Zynga, has no immediate plans to move into the home.

Milner is the founder of Digital Sky Technologies, an investment firm he started in 2005.

The mansion purchased by Milner is a French-style chateau set on 18 acres in hills overlooking San Francisco Bay.

The estate has a ballroom, wine cellar, gym, spa and pools inside and outside.

The Journal says the sale price beats the previous high of $95 million in 2008 for an estate in Palm Beach, Fla.

Big deal! I would have more respect for or envy of him if he donated that kind of money to a worthy tzedakah.

When I think of how many yeshivos and how many kollelim he could keep going with that money, or how many poor kallah’s who don’t have a dime with which to pay for their wedding that he could help marry off, or how many big families that are in dire straits that cannot put food on the table that he could literally save them from total despair, and instead buys a house that I promise you won’t make a difference after 120, just goes to prove one thing, that to give tzedaka and to support Torah has to be looked at as a zechus and a gift from H-shem and its clear that not everyone has that zechus. Yuri – listen to me, back out from this stupid waste of money and buy yourself a one million dollar home and give the rest to yeshivos, kollelim and tomchei shabbos and kimcha d’pischa etc. and I promise you, you’ll feel a whole lot better….. like why do you need a wine cellar in your home for crying out loud? Hatzlocho Yuri….

I find it hysterical that everyone is telling him to walk away from this purchase and give the money to various tzedakah organizations instead. But truly how many of you/us would actually do the same, I don’t think it would be the majority.

To #6 - You have no business suggesting what he should do with his money. What he does or does not do with his money, is his business only. He doesn’t have to give a dime to any charity of any denomination, if he doesn’t wish to. We should stop this habit, of looking in other people’s pockets, and making remarks as to their wealth.

Someone please explain why its so easy to assume that this man has not helped Yeshivas, Shul, Kollel, Etc? Perhaps he has given million to Charity. Dos anyone know him personally that can say he hasnt? Until so, the benefit of the dount should go far. Where is the Emnua for this man that many of of would want for ourselves? More power to him that he was given the Money from Hashem to buy this house. Who are we to judge when we know nothing. Leave that up to the ulimate judge who also looks down at us when we judge.
