Washington – The White House says President Barack Obama will host Israeli President Shimon Peres for a working lunch on Tuesday at the White House.

Peres was last at the White House in May 2009.
The White House says Obama and Peres will discuss a range of issues, including security cooperation between the two countries and recent turmoil in the Middle East and North Africa.
Israel has been watching warily as the Mideast becomes engulfed in popular uprisings. The end of Hosni Mubarak’s regime in Egypt prompted worries in Israel that the three-decade-old peace treaty between the two was in jeopardy. Lately, Israelis have been especially attentive to protests in neighboring Syria.
