Brooklyn, NY - City Hall News Winners: Dov Hikind For Rabbinical Student Funding

Brooklyn, NY - City hall news which rates in their weekly column winners and loosers in NYC politics, is giving high marks to Brooklyn Assemblyman Dov Hikind for being the force in securing tuition assistance to rabbinical students to be included in the NY budget.

Dov Hikind – Even as public universities got a 10 percent cut, $18 million was doled out for tuition assistance to rabbinical schools in this year’s budget. And no one has been pushing for that funding harder, or longer, than Assembly Member Dov Hiking, the dean of Boro Park politics. Year after year, Hikind’s efforts had been thwarted, but somehow, he secured the funding during one of the worst budget crunches in memory. Rumors had been circulating that Hikind might face a serious challenge in 2012. With this feather in his yarmulke, those rumors can likely be put to rest.

We (acheinu bais yisroel) in our communities Boro Park and elsewhere are the real winners that we a person such as Dov Hikind representing us....May HKB"H bless us that we should have him around for many years to come...

At the same time we need to thank VIN for bringing us the exciting news about TAP it's just quite interesting why the other Heimishe news site didn't find this important enough to post..
