New York statistically ranks high in several vegetable categories.
New York is fifth in the nation in area harvested and sixth in value of principal fresh market vegetables.
While onions and sweet corn were both leading vegetables and great official vegetable candidates, the biggest vegetable crop in New York is actually cabbage according the Farm Bureau.
Onions are second and sweet corn is third.
New York should also be considering the pumpkin as an official vegetable since it ranks first in the nation in crop value, according to the statistics service.

Don’t know about New York State but the official vegetable of New York City is dryer lint.
I would suggest the new york apple or the onion. We grow the best apples in the country. The onion would be representative of the state of politics in new york.
