Williamsburg, NY – NYPD Detective from 90th Pct Arrested for DWI

    Williamsburg, NY – An NYPD Detective was arrested for drunk driving late Thursday night after he flipped his car on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, cops said.

    Det. Thomas Handley of the 90th Precinct in Williamsburg was charged with driving while intoxicated after the accident about 11:30 p.m., police said.

    Handley, who was off duty at the time of the crash, has been suspended, officials said.

    Yep, that’s NYPD’s finest for you. Maybe his trial for DWI can start right after the 2 cops accused of rape ends.

    Of late, there seems to be a preponderance of New York’s Finest, who have been arrested, and charged with DWI. What gives here?

    It’s not a “preponderance” of NYPD. There are over 35,000 officers. Policing is a high-stress job (jokes about coffee and donuts notwithstanding, it’s a tough job). If only 10% have a substance abuse problem (alcohol or drugs), that’s 3,500 people.
