An affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles charges 60-year-old Ron Hirsch with flight to avoid prosecution for damaging or destroying a building. The affidavit says Hirsch, also known as Israel Fisher, violated federal law when he traveled from California to Ohio sometime between April 7 and Monday, when he was arrested in suburban Cleveland Heights.

The explosion Thursday near Chabad House Lubavitch of Santa Monica shattered windows and punched a hole in the synagogue. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Cleveland says Hirsch is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.

Authorities did not say whether he had an attorney.

Meanwhile the Los Angeles Times Reports, That Authorities have linked Mr Hirsch to the a large explosive device that went off outside a Santa Monica synagogue based on a receipt found at the scene, according to an federal arrest warrant.

The warrant said the receipt was for three 11-pound bags of a “demolition agent” purchased in Clovis, Calif., on April 1. The package was sent to suspect Ron Hirsch, 60, at a Santa Monica address, officials said.

Officials also found at the scene plumbing tape, empty dry ice bags, five pieces of rebar, bags of cement and a steel pipe wrench, according to the warrant, which was reviewed by The Times on Tuesday.

so who leaves a receipt at the scene of the crime. It’s like robbing a bank and then giving the clerk your business card: “Call me.” Something still doesn’t add up in this story and there is no sensibility in his doing this. I still think he was set up by others to carry out the attack. Watch this space.

it is surprising that a guy like him could build a bomb.

With all of that evidence why wasn’t he charged?

what does dry ice have to do with making a bomb?

dry ice bomb is a simple bomb-like device. While the simplicity and ease of construction, high bursting pressure, and sound make this dry ice activity appealing for recreational purposes, it can be unpredictable and dangerous, and has led to many injuries.

Why is there no Pidyon Shvuyim Campaign for him?

According to the Law he is considered innocent unless he is proven guilty and convicted in a court of law. He has not been convicted yet and may very well be found innocent perhaps?

He may even be found innocent perhaps by reason of insanity – you never know…

I guess our feelings for Pidyon Shvuyim depends if he was rich and supported our mosdos or if he was a “nobody” BECAUSE he was poor and even worse perhaps he needed “medication”.

If someone “needs medication” he does not deserve Pidyon Shvuyim???

Is Pidyon Shvuyim only for those who are Mentally Healthy? but not for those who need to be hospitalized?

US Law will imprison someone if they are mentally deficient and will only let them off the hook if they are “so out of it” to the extent where they can’t tell between right and wrong but any lesser degree of Mental Illness, they will let them rot in Jail instead of giving them medication in a hospital.

Take all the bleeding hearts…put them in a room and pad it…

Reading some of these TB makes me think that many people seem to be too stupid to think.

This maniac planned to kill people with his bomb…He deserves nothing less than a very very long prison term.

In fact should he be found guilty, he ought to be sentenced to death.

I don’t care what his background is and where he comes from and what he endured throughout his life. I dont care if his mother beat him or denied him toys or whatever. He must pay the piper.

The crime of planting a bomb in order to kill people is way over the top.

When you are kind to the cruel you end up being cruel to the kind.

    Get your priorities straight people.

This guy likely and most certainly has a mental illness. He should be afforded treatment and evaluation as I am certain that he will indeed be delivered. That said, Baruch Hashem that noone was hurt. It would be interesting to learn about what factors lead him to this horrible act and I can hope that his future will be one of recovery, though in a confined envioronment for a good long duration.
