    16

Israeli prominent intellectuals and artists gather to sign a petition in support for the declaration of a Palestinian state in boundaries based on 1967 borders during a demonstration in Tel Aviv, on 21 April 2011. Dozens of Israeli intellectuals called for the establishment of a Palestinian state along the borders which existed between Israel, the West Bank and Gaza Strip prior to the 1967 Middle East War. EPA/OLIVER WEIKENJerusalem – Prominent Israeli intellectuals and artists have come out in favor of creating a Palestinian state based on the 1967 line marking the West Bank, Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem.

The 47 signatories include 16 recipients of the Israel Prize, the country’s highest civilian honor. Among them are civil rights pioneer Shulamit Aloni, actress Hannah Marom and Holocaust historian Yehuda Bauer.

Their statement backs the Palestinian drive for recognition by the United Nations, in the absence of progress in peace talks with Israel. The Israeli government opposes the unilateral initiative.

The statement, released Wednesday, calls for an Israeli pullout from the West Bank. It says, “The complete end of occupation is a fundamental condition for the freedom of both peoples.”

It should say “leading liberals” instead of “intellectuals”. If they could think, they would not be out to get us killed!

Wonder where the intellectuals will be when the ‘palestinians’ then want the rest of Israel, and thank us for our unilateral kindness just like they are thanking us now in gaza.

And by then the pa can blame hamas, and hamas can blame hezbollah, and hezbolla can blame iran, and iran can blame al quaeda for the missiles and every arab country including palestine will have sharia law with al quaeda running everything.

Intellectuals are the last people to ask anything! They are great at theory (maybe) and nothing else! Every supposed great intellectual did nothing but cause trouble!

Shulamit Aloni is an “intellectual”? She is the Israeli version of Helen Thomas.

They’re going to have a state, and the Israeli government should define the borders as long as they still have an upper hand, such as giving back Gaza, and West Bank, but keeping Jerusalem.

at least they agree that Israel has a right to exist, next to a palestinian state,as opposed to tens of thousands of chasidic so called jews, who insist that Israel has no right to exist as a sovereign nation, and must be dissolved, and taken over by the united nations,or by the arabs.

This proves that intellectuals can still be ignorant.

Liberalism is truly a mental disease, and common sense isn’t.

I suppose all these pseudo-intellectuals who couldn’t find their way out of a paper bag, contribute to Btzelem and every Arab cause that wants to kill them.

    “Liberal Intellectuals” is an oxymoron.

Liberalism does not necessarilly necessitate that there be a “palestinian” state. My dear chatters, you are confusing liberalism with Permissivism. And Torah does not call for us to be permissive. So perhaps you can say “leading permissives”.

And if they do ever have their own state, G-d forbid, these “intellectuals” should be deported from Israel to live there.
