New York, NY – Verizon Wireless said its new high-speed 4G network was suffering an outage on Wednesday.

It’s the first major problem for Verizon’s 4G wireless network, which launched late last year and has been heavily promoted by the carrier. The incident is a black eye for a carrier that prides itself on the quality and stability of its network.
“Our 4G LTE customers are experiencing connection issues to the LTE network,” said a Verizon spokesman. He didn’t provide more detail, or say when the problem would be fixed.
It’s unclear how widespread the problem is. Tech website Boy Genius Report earlier reported that Verizon’s 4G network had been down for several hours across the nation.

I just got off the phone with Verizon’s tech support team. The outage has been in effect since 12am this morning , and it affects 3G service as well on the new LTE THUNDERBOLT
It also affects broadband wireless.
