Miles Away…Worlds Apart is the true story of Alan Sakowitz, a frum whistleblower of a Madoff-like Ponzi scheme masterminded by Scott Rothstein, the criminal perpetrator who bilked his victims out of 1.2 billion dollars. Sakowitz tells the story of his decision to report Rothstein, regardless of the possible dangerous ramifications of such a decision.

i must be the only one who is bothered by this situation. i think sakowitz should have told rothstein; “we know what you are doing, and if you don’t do teshuva and repair this situation ASAP we will be informing the police.” instead sakowitz just told the authorities right away. i know he spoke to a prominent rav, etc, but i still don’t like the way this case went down. now before all you vin’ers go crazy on me and say “yeah and you would protect the child molesters too,” i would most certainly not. not every person deserves rachmanous or protection. but this is only about money, and rothstein likely could have found a way to make the situation right. but now another jew is rotting in jail and sakowitz is proud of himself and going on tv about it. i’m sorry, this just does not impress me. (p.s. like i said, i know i am in the minority here).
