The case of USA v. Johnny Reid Edwards contains six counts, including conspiracy, four counts of illegal campaign contributions and one count of false statements. The indictment was returned in the Middle District of North Carolina Friday.
An Edwards spokeswoman said she wasn’t aware of the filing and declined immediate comment.
The indictment is the culmination of a federal investigation that lasted more than two years and scoured through virtually every corner of Edwards’ political career.
He’ll probably be sentenced
to the ultimate punishment: three years without hair conditioner.

He’s in a lot of trouble. I imagine he will lose his license to practice law and will go through a very public trial. He may be able to avoid jail by admitting wrongdoing but there is a good chance he does a little time.
He’s the lowest of the low. We are all lucky he didn’t win the presidency.
I agree with #4 . I never fell for Edwards’ line that “I’m just one of the good old boys, as I came from a very poor background”. Ultimately, not only will his law license be permanently revoked (as was Bill Clinton’s), but he will serve jail time. He is not going to get a free pass.
He should only be so lucky to avoid jail time… He could survive on his wealth/assets for years to come, even with being disbarred as an attorney. I wouldn’t worry about feeding his kids…
