New York, NY – House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s call for an investigation into Rep. Anthony Weiner scandal was a clear sign of how far the Queens congressman’s stock has fallen – and underscores his long odds for salvaging his once-promising career.

“The only question is how soon he realizes he has to go,” a prominent Democratic strategist said. “He’s finished. He should have resigned.”
Many Democrats say that if Weiner doesn’t take himself out of Congress in a few days, party leaders may do it for him – rather than let Republicans use him as a cudgel on ethics.
“There’s no way he could win that [Queens-Brooklyn] district again, but he won’t be allowed to find out,” another Democratic strategist said. “The party can’t afford to let this hemorrhage continue when they have a legitimate chance to win back the House next year.”
Weiner can kiss goodbye his dream of becoming New York’s next mayor, said Hank Sheinkopf, a Democratic political consultant.
“Don’t bet on Mayor Weiner for 2013,” he said. “The guy with the second-toughest job in America doesn’t usually sit around texting all day long. It’s just not what mayors do.”
Weiner “is now in a deep, dark and unspinnable place,” Democratic consultant Christopher Lehane added.
Republican political hot shots were unwilling to rule Weiner’s political career dead and buried.
GOP consultant Stu Spencer ventured a guess that Weiner might conceivably survive – if there’s nothing else out there.
“If he’s come totally clean, there’s a slight chance the Democrats will stick with him,” Spencer said. “But when you come forward and tell all, you better tell all. If there’s anything else out there, he’s finished.”
Roger Stone, a Republican consultant, agreed that Weiner was not yet dead in a Congress with the likes of Sen. David Vitter (R-La.).
“Weiner is one of the most privately disliked politicians of all time because of his abrasive style,” Stone said.
“His actual performance [yesterday] was quite effective, and he will find that Americans have short memories and a forgiving nature.”
I hold more radical liberals are next. They are all bad for this country. Anti america in all ways.
I don’t condone anything that Mr. Weiner has done, but wonder why everyone is circling his wagon when others such as Charles Rangel actually broke laws and weren’t asked to go. Weiner’s actions may have been stupid and not acceptable to most, other than the publics trust, where any laws violated?
Rep. Chris Lee (R) from the NY 26th Congressional district (the Craigslist shirtless wonder) was called into Speaker Boehner’s office and forced to resign THAT DAY…and his pictures did not entail “the full Monty” (which Breitbart claims to have, and there is no reason to believe he doesn’t at this point).
That the Democratic leadership House has not forced him out is a disgrace; and I hope the President, as head of the national party now wields the axe.
No one can blame any Republicans with the Weiner self-destruct fiasco. Weiner had it all and now is about to lose it all. It is a lesson to be learned for all of us.
Maybe some yid with great midos and integrity like Dov Hikind or David Greenfield might be convinced to run for this seat which covers portions of Brooklyn. Also, Simcha Felder would be a great candidate.
We are FED UP with having perverts and crimminals representing us locally, statewide, and federally. We aren’t going to take it anymore. We need fresh honest blood. Throw the bums out!
Short memories yes, But unless he changes his last name, there is no way people CAN forget. In about a week, Wiener went from being a respected politician to a ridiculous punchline; every time people hear his name, they will remember.
Wiener has a better chance at becoming a celebrity boxer briefs model than remaining an elected official.
How’s he worse than Clinton?
I think Weiner survives, for now. He may have to wait a while to seek higher office, but he should be OK for the next election. The fact is that he came clean, admitted it was 100% his fault and really didn’t seem to leave out anything. If that is the case, this story will be gone in the next few weeks. While it will likely be dragged out into the conversation IF he runs again, it will be seen as old news.
While I would certainly like to see a Conservative take his seat, the fact is that there will NEVER be a Conservative in that seat. So, to make a political play for it is just silly.
I actually think, in the end, he played this pretty well.
Never say never. Look on Eliot spitzer ….. He is making big money again because people watch him the same experts said on him he is done till his grave. And look. Yes short memories
It is my opinion that Weiner should opt to take himself out of the running for reelection to Congress, in 2012. In that manner, this sordid episode could quietly be laid to rest. Yes, he has done some good things for his constituents, and for EY. However, if he chooses to run for reelection, the “Weinergate” affair, will come to life again, and it will distract from much more important issues. It will also give him and his family additional tsouris, which he doesn’t need. Also, let us not compare this matter to other politicians who are still serving, who have experienced legal problems in the past. One dishonest politician certainly does not give a free pass to other politicians.
Weiner has brought digrace upon the Jewish people and New York. He voted for Obama care and even lied for the president saying that it was a good bill. By pushing and voting for Obam Care he voted against the wishes of those he represents.
