However, a new, exclusive NY1-Marist College poll finds a majority of those Anthony Weiner represents say their congressman should weather the scandal sparked by his online dalliances.

Registered voters in New York’s 9th Congressional District — constituents of Weiner — were polled on Wednesday.

Of those polled, 56 percent say Weiner should not step down. Only 33 percent say he should resign and 12 percent are not sure.

“I think he’s a great congressman,” said one voter.

“I think that before he’s an elected official or a citizen, he’s a man. I think that these things happen every day, and you know, they’re using him as a scapegoat,” said another.

Weiner’s fellow Democrats were more even supportive.

The poll finds that 63 percent of Democrats say he should not step down, versus 47 percent of Republicans and 44 percent of non-enrolled voters.

“There’s no doubt that people in his district have taken notice of this and are not by any means pleased with what’s been going on. The question, though, is that they don’t think it’s a matter of professional inadequacies,” says NY1-Marist College pollster Lee Miringoff. “They think that this reflects questions of his personal judgement.”

“This is his personal life. And I feel that the public should actually lay off,” says a voter.

When asked if Weiner did something unethical, not illegal, 73 percent agreed.

Only 11 percent say he did something illegal and 9 percent say he did nothing wrong.

    Seven percent are not sure.

Still a majority do think this all has compromised his effectiveness. After handing him a seventh term by a relatively thin margin for his district, voters seem to be souring on him, clouding his prospects for an eighth term.

“His time is up. Get rid of him,” says a voter.

Of those polled, 42 percent have an unfavorable view of him, versus 38 percent with a favorable view. Twenty percent are not sure.

Asked if they would vote for him again, 31 percent say they would be definitely would not.

Thirty percent say they are definitely for Weiner’s re-election, but 38 percent are not sure.

Pollsters questioned 512 voters in the 9th Congressional District on June 8, and the margin of error ranges from 4.5 to 5 percentage points.

Why did they poll voters on Wednesday, Shavuos? They are missing a big chunk of his constituency.

He committed a crime that is unforgivable beyond all others, when first asked by Nancy Pelosi if any of this was true, he said “no.” Lying to the head of your party caucus is something only a truly deranged person would do. If he does not exit, she will orchestrate it for him.

This guy is slime and has been “exposed” for what he is….a compulsive liar without a conscience. He knew what he was doing was wrong yet chose to continue to hurt others around him! Pointing to the inadequacies of others, regardless of party, doesn’t change the facts of Weiner’s specific case.

This is a very sick man that needs help, he doesn’t belong in the United States Congress. He has shown extremely poor judgement, immorality, he is a liar, arrogrant. It IS also illegal to send pornography to some areas, and he can be charged on that single count alone. He is a disgrace to the people of Brooklyn, who no longer want this pervert reprEsenting us. We don’t want to see him giving graduation speeches at all girls schools either. Those poles are fakes and frauds, 99% of the people in his district want him out. NOW.

As sleazy as this guy is, why should he resign when supposedly no laws were broken?? He could easily argue that Charlie (I forgot) Rangel broke the same tax laws that he helped write, not only was he not forced to resign, but he was’nt even prosecuted for breaking his own tax laws?? Talk about a double standard…

The poll was done by phone on Shavuos, so nobody from our community was contacted and could answer. They should throw the results away because they are not accurate.
