Washington – As a cache of embarrassing new photos appeared Sunday, Rep. Anthony Weiner finally began considering the possibility that he may have to resign.

A source close to the congressman told the Daily News that Weiner had been adamant about keeping his seat – even as the Democratic leadership urged him to quit.

But the unrelenting media coverage, the demands he step down from his party’s leadership, and the appearance of more humiliating photos made Weiner realize he may not be able to bull through the crisis after all, the source said.

The source said one person Weiner would listen to is his mentor, Sen. Chuck Schumer. Schumer says he is “heartbroken” but has stopped short of telling Weiner to quit.

The other person Weiner will take advice from – his wife, Huma Abedin – is in Africa with her boss, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Weiner is still convinced Abedin won’t divorce him, and is still telling people she wants him to stay in Congress, sources said.

The last two weeks have taken a toll on the congressman, who isn’t sleeping and spends hours pacing his apartment, friends said.

    Mr. Weiner,
if you would consider this step for two weeks ago you wouldn’t have to go through all of these media garbage, like this you would still have a chance of coming back to politics in a year running for MAYER,
now you gotta face the consequences of being an idiot.

I just can’t fathom his arrogance. Even if he were to keep his post. Does he think for one minute he could still be effective??

What is really insulting is the Democrats faked indignation of Weiner’s refusal to resign. They only want him out, because they think he will hurt the party. Not because of any moral objections.

Incidentally, it’s not the texting and messaging that are troublesome, but the ease with which Mr. Weiner lied, denied and attempted to obfuscate and deliberately mislead the American people. He went on a week long media campaign to protect his image and congressional seat. Granted, what people do in their own time may be their own business. But don’t lie cover up and make yourself the victim of a faceless ‘hacker’ just to protect your image. Had he admitted it at the time he was caught this would not be a story. But it all was suspicious, when he first called an attorney and not the police when he suspected the alleged ‘Hacking’.

Another phony career politician. Who will do anything and say anything to get re-elected. It’s all about the next big step.

Bring back term limits for ALL elected officials.

As far as the Democrats, birds of feather flock together.

Several of these photos are not tziniusdik and are very inappropriate for a member of congress. If they were sent by a rav or askan in one of our mosdos, we would be very upset. Shouldn’t we hold our elected representatives to a higher standard?

Silly people. He isn’t going anywhere until they offer him another cushy job. Some sort of banking committee thing or tlc commissioner or something. He didn’t break the law. Why should he go anywhere. His offer to resign is just a negotiating tactic.

He’s uneducated & can’t do anything other than con his constituents & send dirty pictures via email (is this illegal? Like email fraud? After all, the pictures probably give him more credit than he deserves, therefore they are fraud.)

That’s why he doesn’t want to resign. He gets a huge salary & he isn’t qualified to be anything other than a Democratic creep. Feh! He is a sicko.

Anthony Weiner is perhaps the strongest friend of Israel in congress and the most outspoken of Jonathan Pollard’s supporters in Congress – in strong contrast to the supposedly frum Joseph Lieberman who would let him rot. All friends of Israelhave a responsibility to support him.

Question the connection between Weiner the Jew, his wife the Muslim (whose father was from Pakistan and whose mother teaches in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) and Hillary Clinton. This is a political marriage of expediency, appearance, and access. Weiner blew it – but expect support to come from strange places to keep him in when by all rights he should be out. Where have we seen this before? Ask Hillary.

What happened to Tshuva? Assuming he honestly repents, give te guy a second chance. It will only make him smarter and stronger and more honest. Or if he fails again, then he deserves it. Meanwhile, stop judging people. People all have issues and backgrounds we dont know of or see. We all have to grow, mature and become better. Unfortunately, he is in the public eye so his nisayon became public for all to see. What nisayon do you have that you have or have not managed to overcome??

People seem to forget that Clinton was impeached by the House of Representatives. He was only cleared in the Senate, because the episode became a shoving match between the Democrats and the Republicans. However, Clinton’s law license was revoked. In spite of his past, there were still corporations and individuals who were willing to pay him large speaking fees. It should be noted that former President Harry S. Truman never took a dime in renumeration for speaking after he left office, as he felt that the office of the Presidency would be diminished, by having it exploited for financial gain. When this matter is concluded, Weiner will probably be approached by various publishers and offered a six figure book deal, pertaining to this sordid affair. To paraphrase what Walter Cronkite used to say “That’s the way it is”.
