The New York City mayor spoke Wednesday at the Council on Foreign Relations.
He says that a new study by his immigration-reform organization shows that more than 40 percent of Fortune 500 companies were founded by immigrants or their children.
Bloomberg says the U.S. should give green cards to graduates who have earned advanced degrees in certain fields. And he says that foreign entrepreneurs who have investors lined up should be given visas.
Bloomberg argues that immigrants built this country and without such changes, America’s status as a global superpower is at risk.
Advocates on the other side of the issue argue that immigrants make it more difficult for Americans to find jobs
Why even bother having immigration laws? Just throw the border wide open. Let anyone come in, take advantage of the generous (relative to the other country) social welfare laws.
Do we see many European countries throwing their borders wide open to anyone? When I get older, can I just go to one of the better European social welfare countries and let them support me? I don’t think so.
Only half a solution to a much bigger problem. 1st we must close & secure our borders. THEN & ONLY THEN can we decide what to do with the many illegals that are already here.
#1 how many of the 40% were illegal immigrants cause legal imigrants I don’t think anyone has a problem with.
#2 Bloomberg stay in NY & instead of giving rights for gays & illegal imigrants maybe you would be able to balance the budget instead of cutting vouchers
What an idiot Bloomberg is!! Are the borders not open enough already!!!
