Washington – Two House members have introduced a bill that would remove marijuana from the list of federal controlled substances and cede to the states enforcement of laws governing pot.

The legislation would eliminate marijuana-specific penalties under federal law, but would maintain a ban on transporting marijuana across state lines. It would allow individuals to grow and sell marijuana in states that chose to make it legal.
The bill was introduced Thursday by Democrat Barney Frank of Massachusetts and Republican Ron Paul of Texas. Paul is running for the GOP presidential nomination.
Frank said he’s not advocating marijuana use, but believes that criminal prosecution is a waste of resources and an intrusion on personal freedom.
The bill has no chance of passing the Republican-controlled House.
Make it legal and controlled. The tax revenue would retire the Federal debt.

This was once a good country. But it’s been slouching towards the garbage can for about half a century now, so I am not surprised.
There are NO medical benefits to marijuana, other that a slight increase in appetite (which may help terminal cancer and AIDS patients.)
‘Medical marijuana’ is a SCAM!
Anybody can get an MD to prescribe anything and deem it medically necessary.
Even glaucoma in which there may have been some modest decrease in intra-ocular pressure; ‘In a 1992 Information Statement entitled The Use of Marijuana in the Treatment of Glaucoma, the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Committee on Drugs concluded that there was no scientifically verifiable evidence that the use of marijuana is safe and effective in the treatment of glaucoma.’
..and not everyone has glaucoma..
I can’t wait to grow my own plant. Weed is as safe as it gets. Safer then cigarettes, Safer then Alcohol, Safer then any pain medication, and it’s healthier then a can of sweet soda for crying out loud just legalize it. Weed is nothing but a joke in the world everybody smokes it anyway

CONCLUSIONS
1. Under the influence of marihuana the basic personality structure of the individual does not change but some of the more superficial aspects of his behavior show alteration.
2. With the use of marihuana the individual experiences increased feelings of
relaxation, disinhibition and self-confidence.
3. The new feeling of self-confidence induced by the drug expresses itself primarily through oral rather than through physical activity. There is some indication of a diminution in physical activity.
4. The disinhibition which results from the use of marihuana releases what is latent in the individual’s thoughts and emotions but does not evoke responses which would be totally alien to him in his undrugged state.
5. Marihuana not only releases pleasant reactions but also feelings of anxiety.
6. Individuals with a limited capacity for effective experience and who have difficulty in making social contacts are more likely to resort to marihuana than those more capable of outgoing responses.
