The woman and her husband were kayaking with an instructor, also from Monsey, when both the couple’s kayaks flipped over. The husband was aided by the instructor but the two were unable to rescue the woman from the river and had to call for help. The woman was forced to tread water until the rescue squad arrived and no injuries were reported in the incident, which was attritbuted to inexperience.
In an interview with VIN News, Lieutenant Dino of the Mahwah Police Department urged the public to exercise extreme caution when kayaking.
“Always be especially careful after heavy rains as the river does move much faster.”
O….K.
What happned to the K who aided SK?
So K helped K from K who was instructing K….lol…
They are fortunate to be safe but I hope that this story does not deter others from learning how to Kayak. Its a great sport that should appeal to those in the frum community since it does not raise any of the tzinius issues and other concerns we frequently hear about other forms of exercise. Kayaking requires certain basic skills and common sense but can provide hours of wonderful recreation and exercise.
Very interesting…. I didn’t know we could go rafting so close to monsey
If they wouldn’t have been ortho, say, not ortho, or challila, not even jewish, would it have been newsworthy? Just wondering………,.
The article stated that “the woman was forced to tread water”. Don’t these kayakers wear life jackets?
#6 , perhaps that’s because they’re of advanced age?
Do you know for certain that none of the aforementioned Gedolim never enjoyed such activities in their youth? I don’t know that for certain, and I doubt you do either. Please don’t put words into the mouths of our leaders. If someone wishes to engage in an activity let them inquire for themselves.
