New York – Rockland County residents can get help with their prescription drug costs under a new program announced Monday.

The free program would offer the most benefit to those who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid and too little to easily pay for their prescriptions out of their own pockets.
“There are many people in the gray area between those who have money and insurance and those who in fact are on welfare,” County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef said. “The lower end get Medicaid. The upper end get insurance by virtue of their employment or buying it independently. That whole middle group, which is growing all over the nation, is the group you’re really shooting for. It’s the middle class.”
Q:- There is no such thing as a free aspirin tablet, so who is paying for this boondoggle?
A:- The taxpayers of Rockland County – themselves.
Hey, Beckford, at least they’ll be getting something for their money. The taxes will be paid regardless… nice to know that some of it will be returned to the taxpayer’s pocket rather into the non-taxpayer’s…
This is a variation of the same limited benefits on certain generic drugs that are already available through Walmart etc…

It’s a negotiated discount plan and is not subsidized.
