The city is seeking proposals and designs for new street signs aimed at pedestrians. They’ll feature maps, a compass and walking times to its many attractions.
And the signs won’t be just for the benefit of tourists.
A Department of Transportation survey has found that one in 10 New Yorkers admitted getting lost in the past week. A third couldn’t say which way was north.
According to The New York Times, the city plans to put up the first signs in Chinatown; Long Island City, Queens; and the streets around Penn Station.
The city has asked for proposals to be submitted by next month
