    The bill was approved by all 89 senators present. Its initiators are the Jewish and Democratic Senator Ben Cardin of Maryland and Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine.

    Nimer Hammad, an advisor to PA President Mahmoud Abbas, said that the Senate’s threat to cut off financial aid to the Palestinians, passed unanimously by the US Senate on Wednesday, won’t stop the PA from doing something it considers to be in the interest of the Palestinians.

    Will this cut aid if they just try to get the UN to declare a state? Or only if it gets passed by the UN?

    Will someone explain to me why the PA is getting $$ aid from the US in the first place.
