Baltimore, MD – Having lost his freedom, federal informant Solomon Dwek is also about to lose his allowance.

Abruptly sent to jail Tuesday for lying to the FBI, Dwek was receiving a $12,500 monthly stipend from the federal bankruptcy trustee trying to sort out the remains of his failed real estate empire later found to be built upon massive fraud.

That allowance expires today, as does an agreement to pay Dwek’s expenses in connection with the bankruptcy case — including the cost of a $100-an-hour private security contingent. That agreement is unlikely to be renewed, those connected with the case say.

Dwek, 38, was using the money to support  his wife and six children — including a son born just weeks ago. His family, shunned from their Orthodox Sephardic community in Deal, now lives in Baltimore.

$12,500 a month – pretty good for a guy who’s managed to stay out of jail for so long

I used to feel bad for his wife. But to bring a kid into this world and this situation, I don’t feel any more pity for her any more.

This is really unfortunate for his family. Those who have had the good fortune to meet the Dweks at various yiddeshe functions and locations in the Baltimore/Silver Spring area have gotten to know people beyond the negative stereotypes presented in the media and some postings on this website. Hopefully, the local Maryland yiddeshe mosdos will come together to raise funds for Dwek and his family.

Can’t we see what happened. The government wants an informer in the prison systen so they put Dwek there. Imagine! They didn’t send him to jail for stealing $50 million but sent him now to jail for not returning a used rented car in time. He will befriend real criminals in jail with many stories that they will confess to him because he is a real ganster they can look up to cause he stole 50 m illion. Its obviously a sham.

You have to have ruchmunis on the family. Who needs to ask somebody’s permission for a woman to become pregnant. Remember Haman harasha had grandchildren that learned Torah. Maybe this baby will come and do something great to make up from the sins of his father

His wife’s still with him? And she has another child with him? She’s more stupid than he is. I thought they left him. I suppose the $12,500 helps sweeten the deal.

We judge him as a Rasha because WE are allowed to judge of course. And how does Hashem judge all those who have chosen to judge him AND his wife? It is better to keep quiet and let Hashem handle it.
