Lakewood, NJ – Thousands Attend Funeral Of Telz Rosh Yeshiva (photos-Video)

    Lakewood, NJ – Approximately 1000 people were on hand at the Telshe Yeshiva in Cleveland at 9 AM this morning to pay their respects to their esteemed Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Chaim Stein, zt’l who was niftar yesterday at the age of 99. The hespedim were delivered by his sons, R’ Binyomin Moshe Stein and R’ Shmuel Zalman Stein, his son in law R’ Menachim Levin and by R’ Avrohom Chaim Levine, Rosh Yeshiva of Telshe Yeshiva – Chicago. The Kel Moley was made by R’ Sholom Shapiro of the Telshe Yeshiva in Cleveland.

    Following the levaya in Cleveland, the aron was flown on a private plane to Monmouth Executive Airport located in Belmar, New Jersey, after which it was brought to Beis Medrash Govoha in Lakewood for a 2 PM levaya.

    A crowd of approximately 20,000 were in attendance with hespedim delivered by Roshei Yeshiva of Beis Medrash Govoha, Rav Malkiel Kotler and Rav Yeruchim Olshin, the Novominsker Rebbe, R’ Dovid Goldberg – Cleveland, R’ Yitzchok Sorotzkin, a former Rosh Yeshiva at the Telshe Yeshiva and R’ Avrohom Ausband, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Telshe Alumni of Riverdale.

    Thousands of people lined the streets of Lakewood, from the yeshiva until County Line Road, with extremely tight security provided by the Lakewood Police Department which provided both officers on the ground and snipers on rooftops.

    Following the conclusion of the levaya at 4 PM, the aron was taken to JFK International Airport for a 7 PM flight. A funeral will be held on Friday in Israel with kevurah to take place on Har Hamenuchos.

    Correction: R’ Shalom Shapiro and R’ Shlomo Eisenberger also gave hespedim in Cleveland.
    Additionally, one einikel spoke at the end.

    Why do people refer to Brooklyn as the “city” only in the summer ? In the winter the “city” refers to Manhattan , let’s keep it that way and refer to Brooklyn as Brooklyn
