New York – When it comes to New York’s suddenly vacant Ninth Congressional seat, Elizabeth Holtzman is not exactly playing it coy.

She wants the job.
“I could hit the ground running,” she said of the post, now up for grabs since Representative Anthony D. Weiner resigned. “I know I could fight effectively for the people of this district. I was in Congress.”
Ms. Holtzman, the youngest woman to be elected to Congress, represented Brooklyn in the House from 1973 to 1981, later becoming the district attorney in Brooklyn and comptroller for New York City.
Like Mr. Weiner’s, her credentials as an unapologetic liberal — generally a plus in the Brooklyn-Queens district — are indisputable: a few years back she called for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for their handling of the war in Iraq and Hurricane Katrina.
“I think I have tremendous advantages in that special election, given my name recognition, substantial record and ability to raise funds,” Ms. Holtzman said.
We had enough of your poor performence the last time you were in congress and when you were DA please spare us more pain and aggravation from your inempt liberal policies.
You wonder y we frum yidden support secular liberals when we could elect good people like Hikind.
We may not agree with all of her positions but she is an ehrliche yid and a great friend of EY. More importantly, she has the maturity and experience to effectively represent the district with a long tradition of progressive policies.
She is ideal to hand the district to a Republican! She was last elected to public office twenty two years ago and is clearly no longer part of the Democratic Party mainstream.
I thought we heard the last of her when she finished fourth in the Democratic primary for mayor…behind Al Sharpton. I guess she can’t make a go of it in the private sector and so she has to head back to feed at the public trough.
The district hasn’t elected a Republican since 1923.
U had your chance. Thank you. Now let somebody else sit on the seat.
Let her run and get a Republican elected. We can not go on with the liberal nonsense
Let’s not forget how this “machshefa” went after Yidden many years ago in the Summer School Lunch Program with a vengeance never seen before and which resulted in Yidden going to jail.
Just another corrupt Democrat that was kicked out of NYC comptroller office by non other than Havesi.
Elizabeth Holtzman? Wow, who dusted her off? Haven’t heard from her in years.
Don’t these people EVER retire. Whose next, Bob Abrams and Abe Biderman?
We need fresh young talent, not tired retreads.
I still remember how Liz traumatized a rape victim who was testifying.
Liz you are 70 years old, may you live to be 120, in a retirement village in Florida.
