Madigan received the Anti-Defamation League’s Bernard Nath Award on Tuesday because ADL officials say she has a commitment to civil rights issues.
Officials with the advocacy group say Madigan has facilitated relationships with the Cook County Sheriff’s Department and other law enforcement personnel, leading to trainings on extremism and extremist trends.
The award is named after a longtime leader of the ADL who worked in the group for six decades. Past winners of the award include U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald and Clarence Page of the Chicago Tribune.
