New York, NY – A labor union has filed a formal complaint with the feds, accusing Mayor Bloomberg of violating its contract by proposing an overhaul of the city’s day care services.

“It’s a backdoor way of union busting,” said Thomas Murray, the lawyer for DC1707, which represents the day care workers.
Murray filed a protest with the U.S. Labor Department, claiming the city is trying to lower wages and benefits for more than 9,000 workers.

My only comment is regarding unions. In their day I will agree that they were important and did a lot of good. That day has passed. Let me take you back to, I
believe, 1957 or 1958. The Illinois Central Railroad wanted to lay off all firemen on
their freight trains. The union struck the IC and the strike lasted a long time. When it
finally ended, the union “allowed” the IC to assign other jobs for the fireman and they
did not have to fill their spots once they retired or left the job. Sounds like a good
deal, right? Well again, we are talking about 1957 and the job of the fireman, which
was to stoke the engines with coal, was kind of not necessary. Yep, engines ran
on diesel fuel. You do not have to stoke coal into a diesel engine. That is why the
IC wanted to get rid of the fireman. I never went to collage but this sounds like a
pretty sound business decision to me.
Mayor Bloomberg is a TERRIBLE mayor.
It’s easy to prove.
Any ‘leader,’ (Politician) who can tolerate a 60% recidivism rate in his/her town, city cares little for the welfare of his constituents.
After-all, the MOST important issue is safety.
This country’s lying politicians aren’t fighting a ‘war against crime, and are NOT putting in all their WILL to lower the crime rate.’
If we fought this war with the same energy in the past we would NEVER have built ‘The Panama Canal,’ The Hoover Dam’ and would have lost to the Japanese and, YM”S The Nazis.’
