Metropolitan Police commissioner Paul Stephenson denies any wrongdoing.
Stephenson has been criticized for hiring Neil Wallis, a former News of the World executive editor arrested last week in the scandal, as a part-time PR consultant for a year until September 2010.

If the (former) Police Chief claims he has done nothing wrong, why did he quit?!
The resignation of the British Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson is as fine an example of מידות טובות as we are ever likely to see in a public servant.
He had clearly taken as his motto “The buck stops here” and – in Sir Paul’s case – it clearly did.
Public figures in all countries can learn a lot from the man’s example.
