Brooklyn, NY – Days after the brutal murder of young Leiby Kletzky, HY’D, Jews worldwide are attempting to channel their feelings of grief and horror in a positive direction and provide both themselves and the Kletzky family with some measure of comfort by taking on mitzvos and projects in memory of the Borough Park boy.

After one of the speakers at the levaya described Leiby as “a living Sefer Torah that was ripped away from us,” Misaskim, one of the many organizations involved whose members worked tirelessly around the clock last week, will be writing a Sefer Torah in memory of the young Brooklyn boy who touched the lives of Jews everywhere.
“This was a tragedy that struck millions of us, all across the world,” said Yanky Meyer, founder of Misaskim, in an interview with VIN News. “What better way to pay tribute to this living Sefer Torah and perpetuate his memory than by writing a Sefer Torah liluy nishmaso?”
Misaskim is offering the public the opportunity to join in this unique mitzvah by offering sponsorships of a whole parsha, an entire amud or even a single letter. Sponsorships are available for selected portions such as Aseres Hadibros and Ma Tovu with special opportunities for Birkas Yehuda in Birkos Yaakov and V’Zos L’Yehuda in V’Zos Habracha, particularly significant as they contain Leiby’s name, Yehuda.
The project which began Friday afternoon with the approval of Rabbi Binyomin Eisenberger, Rov to the Kletzky family, is moving along well according to Meyer, who says that the Sefer Torah will be used by Misaskim in Shiva homes.

What is the appropriate response to 9/11?
Was it to write a sefer Torah for 9/11 victims?
Or was it to declare war on Terrorism?
9/11 changed the world view of terrorism for ever, and Leiby Kletzky should change the view of how the frum community deals with Molesters, just as 9/11 changed the world forever.
If someone has a heart attack is the appropriate first move to call Hatzoloh or is it to write sefer Torah for him?
Our own local 9/11 is Leiby Kletzky!
The appropriate response should not be thinking about making more and more sefer Torahs (we enough Sefer Torah’s in BP and it didn’t stop the Butcher) but to declare war on Molesters and save thousands of other 9 year olda, save all the LIVE_SEFER_TORAHS, spiritually, mentally and emotionally murdered by molesters DAILY in BP, Chas Vesholom.
there is probably enough interest to write 50 sefer torah liuly nishmas
This is nice.
what a wonderful idea to honor his memory.
I Just bought an ois
“….we enough Sefer Torah’s in BP…”
I will assume you are consumed with angst to make such a statement. We NEVER have too many sifrei torah. Chazal tell us that before the coming of moishiach, there will be a sefer torah for every yiddeshe neshama.
this is a gevaldige idea!
i don’t think there’s a stira in writing a sefer torah and stoping the murders as 9/11 says.
there can be 2 parts to the game:
#1:
try to solve the problem
#2:
do something to make the best of the horrible past
l’maseh, it’s an awesome idea, especially for a person like me who would’ve loved to do something concrete for leiby but didn’t know how or what, this is a great oppertunity. thank you.
amazing idea!!! i already donated a passuk…..thinking of possibly adding more…..what a beautiful way to remember him…..like s/o mentioned…..we should write 9 sifrei Torah…
also, at the levaya they mentione how sincere his davening was…i wish someone can start something like “Zichron Leiby” and hang posters in every shul- reminding people not to talk in shul. you want to talk ….step out shul….the shul is a makom kadosh where we can speak to HaShem….please shut your cell phones and no joking and leitzanus…..imagine your standing in teh buckingham palace lehavdil….kal vechomer…..L’zeicher nishmas yehuda ben nachman – think about it next time you walk in to shul…..
I think this is very special thing to do in his zchus. We are devastated and this gives us a chance to do something for his neshomo. I am sure that it is very meaningful for Leiby’s family.
I just donated an “os” and I would have donated more had I been able to.
I baught an ois but would like to give $ directly to the family to do what they wished with it in his honer. There are so many people who want to contribute from all faithes. What takes so long to make a fund for them?
