New York, NY – Brooklyn DA Confirms Witness Saw Leiby In Monsey With Monster

New York, NY – NYPD Chief police spokesman Paul Browne said Wednesday that detectives believe now that Leiby Kletzky the Brooklyn boy who was killed by Levi Aron was murderd sometime late in the afternoon or early in the evening on July 12 after Aron returned home from work — which means the boy was alive for about a day after he disappeared.

Investigators say it’s possible that, while Aron was at work that day, the boy was in his apartment all day of his own free will.

Police said that Aron told investigators that, later that day, he brought the child to a wedding about 35 miles from Brooklyn and spent several hours there. Other wedding guests confirmed Aron was there but didn’t see the boy.

“Detectives now have reason to believe beyond Aron’s confession that Leiby was at the wedding, but not necessarily inside the venue,” Browne said Wednesday.

At a press conference this afternoon Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes confirmed that Leiby was identified by witness as being in Monsey last week.

By the time the pair returned to the city, it was so late that Aron decided to take Leiby to his home to sleep and left him there Tuesday while he went to work, according to the police version of the confession. Workers at the supply store said Aron showed up as usual that day but seemed troubled.

Police believe Aron left work shortly before 5 p.m. and killed Leiby after being spooked by a massive search for the boy.

“When I saw the fliers, I panicked and was afraid,” Aron said, according to police.

    Doesn’t make to much sense;

1 Why did the start believing his version from the story??

2 What makes them think that the boy was free Maybe he was tied or druged by then already

The chasan/kalah in Monsey will not be happy knowing that perhaps Leiby was locked up in a car in the parking lot of their simcha hall. It was painful enough knowing that Aron was dancing among them but this horrible picture of the little boy tied up in the car outside will never be forgotten

Why are you eriting that he was there that whole day with his own will? Why would a little boy want to stay there? He was druged up and tied to a bed.

Is this article saying that an 8 year old boy rather spend his day by himself in the house of a stranger, than to go home to see his parents?

Who cares if he was in Monsey or Africa he linched a young innocent cute 8 year old BOY …… butcher stop listening to ur Music – Voices – and Kill ur Self

If his intentions were to return the boy to his home why not take the shortcut to 57 instead of going the longer way thru monsey?

No way ! the monsters’ parents would have heard screaming ,
ppl who came to the wedding would have heard Leiby a”h screaming in the car -it just don’t add up

oh yes? then is drugging Lieby Hakodosh also out of panicking? what panick ? ?? I don’t get this report!

It starts pilling up. All of the suden investigators believe this piece of garbage. All of the suden his co workers saw he was troubled the poor man. All of the suden he had panicked and killed, and dismembered, and . . . . the kid.

    POOR LEVI

Enough already! Do we have to hear each excruciating detail? Reports on the fundraising efforts and how the family are doing would suit most of us just fine, and perhaps the occasional report on the speed of the criminal justice system dealing with the perpetrator. But we really don’t need a play by play description of each gory detail – it just makes our collective grief worse.

I shudder to think that they couldve found him alive. But why didn’t he take him back right away if he had no bad intentions??? Something doesn’t sound right. Dunno.

If Aron was “panicked,” and I suspect it’s just part of his planned defense should he ever be caught, it was only because he knew the Shomrim would soon be closing in on him. If the boy was in the apt all day, it’s possible he was drugged or tied up. But it is odd that he decided to “clean up” that morning and cut off his beard before going to work.

Its very interesting, because last week when vos iz neis had headlines that they are searching for the missing boy 1 person commented and asked” does any1 know if he has any relatives or knows any1 in Monsey”? I was wondering then y person chose Monsey out of all places, mayb it was Levy himself commenting….who knows?????

How in heavens name is it possible to imply that the poor boy was there on his own free will? He surely was teid up

This means Leiby zt”l was murdered just before the cops found Aron Levi.

This means Leiby zt”l was murdered long into the search, just before his body was found.

    joseph

This means Levi indeed panicked from the massive search prompting the murder. Nevertheless the massive search was the proper thing to do. There was no way to predict this outcome. And the search was the best thing to do.

What is this supposed to mean, that he was running around the apartment having a good time?????

His picture was all over and noone recognized him? So sad! And I highly doubt he wanted to stay in his apartment of his own free will. So many questions remained unanswered. Maybe his life could have been saved. It wasn’t bashert… Scary!

this is getting more bizarre by the hour

    when was he tied up?

why would he go with him to monsey?

    when was he drugged?

the details will not bring him back, but what the gehenim happened???

“Investigators say it’s possible that, while Aron was at work that day, the boy was in his apartment all day of his own free will.”

Being drugged up on numerous medical drugs (as other news article says), does not appear to me to be “of his own free will”.

Bottom line is that every word he said, has so far proven to be TRUE…
Which just makes this so much sadder because it seems that he never intended to hurt the boy to begin with and he really DID panick which caused him to kill the boy..

I’m NOT JUSTIFYING what he did g-d forbid just stating a sad fact…..

    How depressing and sad….

No one should conclude from this article that the effort to conduct the massive search for Leiby was the reason he was murdered and if only they had conducted a quiet search, maybe Aron would not have panicked and Leiby would still be alive

Steve Malzberg on WOR radio faults the parents of the other children who have now come forward to say Aron also tried luring their kids. He cannot fathom why they never called the police! Further, I don’t believe any other parent in the big wide world would not have called the police after Aron tried luring their children. Only, in our community — the Orthodox community do we hesitate to do the right thing. Hopefully, we will now stop protecting these sick people. Hopefully, we will turn them into law enforcement when such incidents occur. It is very possible, had authorities been alerted to this characer, they might have knocked on his door when they made the rounds on Monday night!

In his confession Aron said that when he returned from work on Tuesday, he found that the boy was still there. This sounds as though he didn’t necessarily expect him to stay. If he wasn’t tied up on Tuesday (and the first report from the ME said it looks like he was tied at some point) it could be the boy was scared to try to leave for a number of reasons: 1) Aron could have said something to prevent him from leaving 2) Leiby didn’t know where he was, in Kensington. and was afraid to go out into the street or 3) He may have been afraid to go home , he may have imagined he would get in trouble. This is how kids think. Also, although everyone is accepting that Leiby was lost, the question still begs to be asked, how did he miss that obvious turn on to 13th St., only one block from his school/camp? Is it at all possible that he intended to walk straight for some reason?

So far all the evidence point to something which we all hate to admit and that is the it’s very likely that Lieby Kletzky and Levi Aaron:

    1) Had prior contact, before his disappeared

    2) Leiby deliberately;y asked his parents to go alone because he wanted to meet up with Levi Aaron as planed

    3) Leiby never “got lost” and knew exactly where he was going and why and waited at the corner to meat up Levi Aaron as pre-arranged

    4) Leiby never asked A N Y O N E for directions – no one in the entire huge BP!

    Think about!

If he was lost how is that no one absolutely N O – O N E on the entire BP his come forward to say that Lieby asked him for direction too!

Leiby walked for so many blocks and never asked anyone directions! because he was never lost and knew exactly where he was going and why – to meet up with Levi Aaron as pre-planned and pre-arranged.

    5) The video proves it all It’s very obvious from the video that this “interchange” was NOT one of asking for directions rather it reflects a boy and an adult who knew each other (prior to the meeting) and shows clearly an adult who EXPECTED the child to follow behind him without even looking back or coaching him + dentist wait

Most likely now that it’s after shiva is the first opportunity investigators have to to go through the boys house to collect evidence to prove that the murderer and victim knew each other and the boy never got lost only asked to go home alone so he could deliberately not make the turn on 13th ave to meet up with the murderer at the prearranged location where he waited for him at the corner as planed.

    Not to belittle anyone…

maybe there should have been a psychologist all along the search who should have talked on the radio etc to the kidnapper and try to calm him down so he should release the victim.

Wow! A bunch of Sherlocks with overactive imaginations. Does it occur to anyone that greater minds, honed by experience, are at work on this case? Has it occurred to anyone that this child had 9 years of life to live on this earth and his getting lost was divinely orchestrated?
Give it a rest. A lot more can be accomplished by saying a kapitel tehillim for the neshama and praying that Hashem give strength to his family and spare them and all of us from any further sorrow.

The article is written in a way that insinuates that Leibby stayed in that apartment of his free will. He couldn’t have escaped!!! Why even promote such an ideal. The kid was drugged up. Please revise this article or incorporate that the coroner said there was drugs within poor Leibby’s system.

I read all the thread of this conversation and what I don’t see is any ideas about how to prevent something like this. We have to focus on prevention/intervention strategies so that the end result is avoided. What can be done to identify and fend off this type of behavior and prevent children from being harmed? Any ideas?

My totally uneducated, non-scientific guess? Aron terrified Leiby HY”D by saying he’d kill his family (a common ploy amongst sexual abusers to keep their victims quiet, compliant, & available) and/or drugged him at that time so he would be quiet & compliant in the car.

This wasn’t a crime committed by a lunatic, it was a crime committed by a psychopath & that doesn’t mean he’s criminally insane. Send him to jail, give him a week in the general population, & it’ll all go away.

All you armchair detectives don’t explain HOW or WHEN Leiby made the acquaintance of his killer and carried on a trust friendship without his parents or teachers knowing anything about it? They must have spent some time together previously so WHEN did that happen?

Now here is a scary thought: many families invite “strange” and “weird” people as Shabbos guests.
