Pierre Bazile announced in an unusual statement on Friday that he had replaced attorney Gerard Marrone with Jennifer McCann on the team representing Levi Aron. Marrone left abruptly this week, saying in various media reports that he had “moral” issues about representing Aron.

Aron was indicted by a grand jury this week on multiple counts, including first-degree murder and kidnapping. He is accused of drugging Leiby Kletzky, smothering him and dismembering his body.

His lawyers have said he hears voices and has hallucinations.

Bazile announced in a statement that McCann “represented Kathleen Prisco, who famously killed her husband and was found not guilty by reason of insanity this past December.”

Bazile also boasted that McCann represented “convicted murderer and dismemberer Nathan Powell and won his appeal for a lesser sentence.”

“She has a reputation for being an aggressive attorney who diligently represents high-profile defendants,” he added.

Aron pleaded not guilty at an initial arraignment last week.

Bazile also blasted Marrone for his comments about the case, saying he is “disappointed by Mr. Marrone’s press comments.”

the lawyer is doing his job, if he does not do his best a conviction can be overturned.

if he is truly insane let him rot in a mental institution. Insanity is not that easy to prove as many think since in criminal cases it is very narrowly defined. Insane does not mean he cannot hold a job or that he is stupid.

and it does not mean he got away with murder.

for those who do not know, there are a few not many who are truly insane who do stuff like this.

Does not mean Aron is, but his lawyer has a obligation to see if such a pursue if in this case it is true.

The lawyer does not know so he getting expert s who do know.

again i rather the lawyer does a thorough job then a sloppy job. If he did a sloppy job a guilty verdict can easily be overturned .

truly insane people are born not created

OMG, you mean the lawyer who quit yesterday didn’t really do so out of moral principle, like he said he did?

    That he was fired?

And that means he was lying?

    A lawyer?

    No, can’t be.

I’m impressed with the set of accomplishments this woman has. Getting undisputed criminals of the hook. Shame on her!!! All I can wish her is to fall victim in the hands of one of her potential clients…

I understand that the law allows everyone legal representation. I also understand that a lawyer has the obligation to ensure his client receives a fair trial. However the way this guy is bragging about the new member of the team who has such success in getting psychos off makes him the sleeziest lowest of the low.

To publicly tell everyone how great this new lawyer is at getting “murderers and dismemberers” lesser sentences – it make me sick!
I also want Aron to have a fair day in court – so it serves as a deterrent to others and promotes justice – but this is not in the spirit of the Legal system.
    So unprofessional –

I think Bazile is empowered by the Anthony verdict…..

Jennifer McCann, Shame on you,Shame on you, !!!!!do you think that this is going to make you popular ? NOT! , No one is going to cheer you on… Your proud of yourself for helping a murder? Your parents must be, and should be truly diappointed in you. You must be a horrible human being.
/Bazile boasted that McCann represented convicted murderers and won appeals for a lesser sentence, Is that something to be proud of ? Helping a murderer, ?
Arons laws should all be ashamed of themselves.
If they think an insanity plea is going to FLY then they are the ones that are insain!

I am disgusted by this. They are boasting helping sick murderers? I hope the last thing this Bazille guy sees every night when he closes his eyes to go to sleep is the hacked up body of Leiby A”H. For the rest of his life.

It doesn’t matter who is lawyer is, or whether he is found to be insane or not. In any scenario he will not be allowed out on the street ever again, and IF he was, that would be the MOST dangerous place (for him) that he could be.

Who on earth is paying these attorney fees!? This twit couldn’t have made millions stocking the plumbing supply shelves of BoroPark, and his dad can’t be raking it in over at B&H. Tell me these lawyers aren’t doing this pro bono….

The attorney might do it pro bono because of the free publicity she will get in this high profile case.

John Hinckley, who tried to assassinate President Reagan 30 years ago, was found “not guilty by reason of insanity” and he has been committed to an insane asylum ever since. “Not guilty by reason of insanity” DOES NOT MEAN that the criminally insane person walks free.

He is NOT a public defender, he is a privately hired lawyer. while I think Marrone is lying about why he quit the case, Bazile is clearly demonstrating what a low-life attention seeker he is.

Let’s hope the lawyers manage to set him free, he would have a way worse fate when he comes back to boro park! sitting in jail is to good for him.

Shoot, there are plenty of attorneys who would do it for free, the Obamas would but they had to voluntarily turn in their law licenses, I wonder why? Dorit Beinish Dalia Dorna, Ayala. Procaccia, Edna Arbell, Aaron Barak, from the Israeli Supreme court they would defend the rights of this poor victim Levi Aron, If Yariv Oppenheimer of Peace Now (suicide later) had an education and law degree he for sure would, oh and lets not forget Valerie Jarret and Eric Holder, I am sure they would work pro bono for Levi Aron if they weren’t so busy committing treason in the US gvt.

Hinckely also has furloughs. Do we want this monster having nice little shopping trips to Walmart in 20 years time, or to get out to go to Shul on Simchas Torah??? FRY HIM NOW, saves the taxpayers the cost of a trial.

I’ve heard of this McCann woman. dangerous, but the good news is even the lowest of the low think aron is legally sane. Evil & sick, but he did it all deliberately.

I’m a bit nervous. I hope this lawyer will not be successful this time. Levy does not deserve a breath of fresh air. He killed a poor innocent child and I’m traumatized and heartbroken, crying for the little sheifela. Justice must be served!!!

I am Shocked that the family has hires an attorney to defend this monster. They should take this money and place it into the Leiby Kletzky fund to help other children. The family is alo to be blamed for this. They are helping their Butcher.

Every lawyer wants to win – regardless of what he or she is doing. You want to win when you’re negotiating a simple contract for the sale of a house and you especially want to win in a courtroom where you’re performing on a stage (even if there’s no tv there to broadcast). The lawyer’s personal desire to win takes over and it doesn’t matter what cause he’s fighting for. If that is not true, then that person has no business being a lawyer. You must pledge to defend your client to the best of your ability, within the bounds of the law, whether or not you like what he or she did. If you don’t like what he or she did, don’t take the case. But if you do, you’re in it to win it.

Don’t blame the lawyers in cases like OJ Simpson or Casey Anthony. There are judges and juries involved too and, as silly as this sounds, there are actually laws and rules of evidence that do need to be followed. But any lawyer I know is going to go full speed ahead towards getting his client off the hook – even if that client is Levi Aron. Just like the lawyer for the DA’s office is (or should be) working as hard as he or she should be to get a conviction.

If he goes to jail, he’s a dead man walking. If he goes to the “loony Bin” he’s a dead man tied up in a straight jacket. If he gets off, not gonna happen, he will a dead man in pieces!!!
